Once a normal man, untill he met Rezzo who tricked him into giving up his humanity for the body of a cimera in exchange for power. He spent the first season seeking the stone that would stop Rezzo from completing his plans. Finally killing Rezzo he then went on to face copy Rezzo who was more powerfull and evil.

In The Slayers Next Zell was the one who wanted the Clair bible so he could change himself back to human form. He looked for it in the second series untill Lina got it and used it to find the knowledge of the Dark lord and beat Hellmaster.

The final season still found Zell out looking for a way to become human. After all that happens and the world is righted he still is not human or happy. He leaves into the wastes of the lands in an endless search for his humanity, and on his wrist he wears amelias charm to remember her by.
