Tsuzuki has been a Shinigami for over seventy years, which is a testament to just how deep his problems run. Tsuzuki is actually a very powerful Shinigami but slacks off, blows his stipends on food, and avoids work anyway. He maintains a facade of carefree, careless cheer but hides a dark history that even he can't remember all of. Muraki's wears away at Tsuzuki's mental stability through the whole series. Tsuzuki's decline ends when he loses his mind and falls apart entirely.
