Title History October 1997 - EIW is formed. Gorgeous Greg is named first Champion November 1997 - At Music City Massacre, Gorgeous Greg loses the championship to Skull Krusher February 1998 - Skull Krusher loses the title to Gorgeous Greg (masquerading as El Satanico) on EIW TV. March 1998 - Col Slick vacates EIW title since GG won it dishonestly. A tournament is held. Jonny Hollywood defeated Skull Krusher in the first round due to interference from Gorgeous Greg. Also in the first round, Gorgeous Greg defeated El Satanico. In the tournament finals, Gorgeous Greg pinned Jonny Hollywood to win the vacated title. August 1998 - Defending the honor of the released Jonny Hollywood, Nick Paris challenged Gorgeous Greg to a World Title match. Paris, the underdog, defeated Gorgeous Greg after a long, grueling match that ended with Gorgeous Greg suffering a torn ACL. December 1998 - EIW newcomer Vern Godspeed defeated Nick Paris to win the EIW World Championship. Nick Paris subsequently left EIW to focus on his band Psycho Magnet. July 1999 - After incessant taunting from the Champion Vern Godspeed, the retired Dusty abandoned his announcing position to have an impromptu match with the Champion. Dusty shocked the world by defeating the Champion. October 1999 - After being on the injured list for over a year, Gorgeous Greg made a triumphant return to EIW, pinning Dusty to recapture the EIW gold and became 4-time EIW World Champion.
