Introduction [written by QV]

The chatrooms #tiberius, #cr'sbar, and #theden have disbanded, many of the members have moved onto other things with new jobs, new friendships or responsibilities. #theden has been the ongoing meeting place for those who wished to keep in touch with their online friends in a chatroom environment. We had two successful reunions in our short run of #theden.

#theden was first started when the owner of the successful #cr'sbar decided to close its doors. Solo_Coyote began #theden in October of 2002 for the few of us who wanted to keep in touch with each other in a chatroom. He transferred full ownership of #theden to QV two months later in December 2002.

Thank you to those of you who supported #theden these past ten and a half months. Thanks to the reunions, we reestablished contact with some of those friends we lost touch with over the past year. I would ask everyone to do their best to keep in touch with their closest online friends through email, other chatrooms or real life contacts.

Most of the pages on this website will be kept as is, as a reminder of the friendships we made while we visited #tiberius, #cr'sbar, or #theden. It is a reminder of the best times we shared as an online community.

I will maintain this site for the time being. Any ideas you may have or suggestions will be appreciated and considered. If anyone would like to submit a webpage or music, please let me know.

Online friendships are unique in their own way. Although we can't actually see the person, I feel these friends are just as real as those we can see. It is the heart of the online person we come to know even if we never learn their real names. The chatrooms were a place for us to let down the pressures of life and enjoy each other whether we acted silly or serious, it felt safer for us because we could be ourselves or an imagined character unlike ourselves. The chatroom environment allowed us to be creative or gave us something to do when life's pressures made us want a little escape. It allowed us the chance to explain our actions, literally.

Consider yourself blessed if you still have ongoing friendships with those seen on this website. Online friendships are more difficult to maintain because of the distance involved. But it is also a unique experience to get to meet someone in another country or state you might otherwise never have met. Online friendships allow us to get to know another person in another country, their customs and events we may never hear of or experience for ourselves. The experience of meeting an online friend in a chatroom was like reading a book. It took us into another world. If the friendships we made online should dissolve or become a real life friendship that lasts a lifetime, I do personally believe an online friend enriches our lives in some way. We will miss the friends who leave us and cherish the fond memories of the fun and hearts we've come to know through the simple medium of an internet chatroom.

Since we no longer have a chatroom we can call our own please take the time to visit other chatroom communities, make new friends or keep in close touch with those who you call your online friends.

I am grateful to have made your acquaintance. If I should lose touch with any of you, I hope to be remembered in a positive way. All my best wishes to you and yours. Mahalo and aloha.
