THE 'WHERE ARE THEY NOW' PROJECT




In May 2004, the 'Where Are They Now' Project was added to this website to provide an opportunity for the former chatters of #Tiberius and #CR'sbar to discuss what they've been up to since the closure of our chatrooms. It's always good to keep in contact with old chat friends, but I know that this can be difficult due to changing email addresses and the general anonymity of the Internet. As such, I greatly appreciate the efforts of those who participated in this article, because submitting an entry on this page allows us to 'catch up' with old friends even if we can no longer regularly meet.

However, as the 'Where Are They Now' Project enters its fifth year online, there is an obvious tendency for entries to become increasingly outdated. The most recent update came in December 2006, but many entries have remained unaltered since this article was originally uploaded. The information in several of the entries should hence not be relied on as being entirely current. Nonetheless, I still consider this article to be a valuable resource, and hopefully I can conduct a second wave of 'Where Are They Now' updates sooner or later.

It must be mentioned that this page was inspired by and exists in honour of QV, our former chatter who passed away in December 2003. One thing I will remember in particular about QV was her determination to keep our room together, and she often thought of the interests of other people before her own by maintaining both the website and a chatroom for our chatters to meet in. Here then, lies my small tribute.

Well I have to say a lot has happened to me since the last time I chatted. I am no longer with McMelrose that broke up over 2 years ago now and for awhile I lived and worked as a nurse in Cairns,Qld. Whilst there I met through another chatroom, my now husband, Steven. I now live and work in Melbourne and I moved here for him and yes I am still nursing.

Our wedding was on Saturday 27th March and we had a beautiful day for it. defiant came to the wedding and had a great time.

On a sad note I lost my mother last March and now my father has sold his home in Sydney and live here in Melbourne too not that far from me.

Hi Folks! Well, it sure doesn't seem like 5 years have passed since I last "saw" you guys.

Nothing much has changed around here, except I finally graduated community college with an Associates degree in Database Management(I might return to school to get a higher degree), my two older children(nieces)are closing in on 29 and 30-years-old, and they have a total of 8 children(I have 8 "grand-children"! EEEKKKK!). I still have 3 "young-uns" at home ages 20(the nephew that I want to beat the crap out of *grins*), 18(my niece,who'll be starting college in the spring, hopefully), and 17(my son who's still in high school).

Me, I'm currently un-employed as of now, but am anticipating being hired as a police dispatcher so pray for me. :) Drop an e-mail my way when you can, okay? Well, that's about all I can think of, so there, CR! :p, lol

I finished college, and got a job in Japan teaching English and making a decent living. I got married, no kids yet, but hey, there's nothing like a hot skinny Japanese chick, right? I'm currently waiting for a job opening with Korean Air that will start in a month or so, and hopefully I'll get hired. If I get that job, I'll be flying all over the place. That's basically about it from me.



Bear (now known as Mel)

I am saddened to report that our longtime chatter and friend Bear (aka Mel, Rich) passed away on December 23rd, 2005.

Apparently, he had been unwell for some time now, although nobody had realised his health problems would be this serious. He passed away due to heart problems, an affliction that has unfortunately affected several other members of his family in the past.

Bear had been a regular presence in both the #Starfleetlounge and the #Klingonchatroom in 1999, but I personally will most clearly remember his days in #Tiberius/#CR'sbar. He remains one of the most popular chatters of our chatroom, and all of his chats (and the various 'wavs' that he made) are unfailing reminders that he was witty, playful and fun to be around. He was a loyal regular of our chatroom since his arrival in early 2000 right up until its closure in 2003, and continued to keep in contact with his online friends (particularly Selena) thereafter until the very end.

As shown in the 2004 WATN update that was originally here, the last few years had been tough for he and his family. However, he had recently (June 2005) gotten married, and evidently the final months of his life were happy ones. My dearest condolences go out to his wife and family... [written by CaptRiker]

Well for those of you who were in the chat reunion on the 24th, you heard the surprise. The_doc and I are moving in together after all these years. The first romance of the room is finally going to recommense. I am moving to the frozen wasteland that he is from and we are going to give the romance a shot. You can not imagine how happy I am to be with such an incredibly sweet and romantic guy. In other news, I added a 3/4 eskie, 1/4 sheltie to my family three years ago and she is spoiled rotten! She is named, appropriately enough, after Princess Leia in Star Wars. Little priss she is and my baby. Am living in the South at the moment, but shortly to move to a frozen wasteland to be with my sweetie. That is pretty much all for now.

This is CaptRiker. For those who can't remember me, I originally started #Cr'sbar at the age of 14 in a frustrated attempt to make the world a better, kinder, gentler place, and under the assumption that it would be an effective way to attract easily impressed young women. I was right of course (kidding). And since the closing of that room, I have occupied myself by spending several years in a Tibetan monestary, several months in a mental institution, several weeks in the Betty Ford clinic, and a couple of days on Kangaroo Island. Again, kidding. :). In all seriousness, I am now 20, and have no doubt changed since days in chat. After an intense year 12 my results got me into my first preference - Law at University. So if you're injured, or are planning to get injured in a scam to collect money from huge corporations, consult me, we'll make 'em pay through the nose (and any other part of the body that excretes money).

I own and drive my own car, a 1990 Ford Laser, red, the fastest and therefore coolest colour. I am still a huge fan of the Beatles and classic films, my favourite: A Man for All Seasons. And while I don't nearly have as much time to chat anymore, you can sometimes find me in #Knowitall, so come visit! Thats about all, though in future check back to this website, I'll occasionally update, because I still savour the memories from our room and will never allow the room or the friendships forged there to be forgotten.

Not long after I left the chat room I decided to start living a real life and joined the United States Coast Guard. The first two and a half years of my career I was an engineer aboard an 87 foot patrol boat named the Wahoo. I got to visit some different countries and see the panama canal as we sailed from Louisiana to our homeport in Port Angeles Washington on our first voyage. Afterwards we mostly did naval escorts and hunted for drug runners in the night. Up until then I was known as a Non-rate. Which simply meant that I had no specific job field in the coast guard yet. In December of last year however I went to a coast guard school and attained the rank of a third class petty officer. My job field designation is called the "Marine Science Technician" rating. I currently reside in the city of Kodiak, which is located on a small island off the coast of Alaska which bears the same name. I work in an office now, but I get to interact with the public all the time. Most of what I do involves inspecting fishing vessels making sure they have the correct equipment on board in case of an emergency. Despite our best efforts fishermen die all the time out here because of the harsh conditions. I also do pollution investigations, and get to hand out tickets to violators. I am working on expanding my qualifications to include inspecting waterfront facilities and those metal containers people ship things around the world in. And thats about it so far.

Hello all from the windy city. I know, I know. I'm slow at getting this back to CR. (I mean my god, even Selena beat me to this lol) But anyways, here's what's been going on with us.

We're both doing famously. We've been married for.....*thinks* (don't tell Dakky =p) a little over 3 years now. Life as had it's ups and downs, but we're doing great. I finished my college work about a year ago and am a certified computer geek.. I mean...... Network Admin. (wait, I said that right the first time) What that means is, I learned all the little tricks and tips to manage a Microsoft Server environment. (Networks that most large companies run to do thier......umm....... day to day crap. Like email, websites stuff like that) Dakky is still working in office jobs. She so badly wants to get into Massage Therapy. (Hey Irish, a little help? =p ) We don't chat much on IRC anymore, and have lost touch with our friends unfortunately. (NEO WHERE ARE YOU!!!) But we think of you guys often and miss the old times. Most of the time, you can catch one of us playing Guild Wars. (God that game is fun... and addicting) (Add Anarion Tarcil if you play it too) I've been considering getting back into the Fire Service and opening a side-business doing in-home computer repair. (cha-ching $$$$)

Well I finished high school and went to Uni (currently 3rd year). I also left Maccas, now I'm working at a computer store. And I finally got a drivers license. That's all :)

Greetings and salutations! giggles, here. Well, let me stop beating around the bush and tell you the biggest news of all: I'M MARRIED! :) Yep, on March 14th, 2006 I was married to the most wonderful man to ever enter my life. I own a Mexican horse named Shada (and bonus points if you can guess where I got the name from...JS you don't count), whom I love dearly and have had for 2 years as of April 24th, 2006 (day of our reunion, yay!).

Hi everyone, it is me, IrishFae. This is a picture of my family taken at Disneyland with one of my favorite characters! Many of you have been there through the early years of my wonderful daughter, Mikaela, and through my pregnancy with my son, Colin. Mikaela is now 7 and Colin is already 3! I also just celebrated my 9th anniversary with my husband Jason. This trip was a first to Disneyland for everyone but for me.

I am a Licensed Massage Therapist nowadays. I have been so for the last 2 years! It is a profession that is perfect for me. I go to work on a daily basis counting my blessings. I work at an upscale resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. In fact, I recently got a promotion to Lead Therapist….Mwahahahaha……POWER……hehe. IrishFae in Management! Actually, I feel very honored and humbled. Nowadays, between the children and the job, I practically fall in bed at the end of the day. Rarely am I visited by insomnia. To think I regularly watched the sunrise before finally falling asleep. Hey guys ^_^

Well, CR asked me for an update, as my old profile thingy is (well, now that this is up, was) fairly inaccurate.

Physically, I’m in Orlando, Florida now, attending the University of Central Florida, majoring in English with a Technical Writing concentration. So basically my major is Technical Writing, lol. For those of you who don’t know, technical writers are those people writing (or doing the research/testing for) those ridiculously confusing and mind boggling manuals you get with fairly easy to use (well, sometimes difficult to use) equipment that you discard without a glance. I don’t know if I will go that route, though. I’m pretty sure I will concentrate on editing and publication, since that’s what I’ve been interested in for quite some time, but never really thought of it as something I could someday aspire to do. Right now I’m in my Junior year of university, hopefully going to graduate a semester early, so I’m like…a Junior+1. I’m not sure if I’ll look for a job straight out of college or try for my Master’s, but I still have about a few months to decide.

Mentally, as most you know, I used to be horribly depressed and write frightening poetry and all that sort of thing. Now, well I still get depressed (my roommate suggested going to a psychiatrist/psychologist, he thinks it’s most likely a physical thing, so I should get medication) but not as often, not as deeply, basically I’m not suicidal, but I still feel very much that I don’t have very much value, if any at all, and that there is no point to being here except to create life, create war to destroy life, and then ultimately die. Other than that, I’m a fairly happy person.

Most of my time is now spent playing Final Fantasy XI, when I’m not at school or doing my loads and loads of schoolwork. My online persona is now thanopstru, no longer am I “the dot” (If you guys even remember that, lol). I started playing almost two years ago (January 2004) and am a Tarutaru with White Mage, Black Mage, and Monk leveled to 75, which is the highest level you can achieve. If any of you play and/or want to join me, I’m on the Leviathan server and I’ll be happy to purchase a World Pass to my server, as that is the easiest place where I can be reached.

So here goes whats going on with me.. Im 33 yrs old now, (yes im old). I still work for American Eagle Airlines up in the Operations Tower.. Ground security, Ramp traffic,. weight and balance, that kinda stuff. I do alot of traveling. I LOVE to travel. Im still single. Im gonna be backup singing for one of my friends that sings locally here in Dallas Texas. She will be recording her second album soon. Basically, im still boring! lol. I still hang out with a bunch of stars. Mainly singers though.. They are such interesting people. Im still battling with my health. I still do dialysis 3 times a week. I had a small heart attack at the age of 30. So people, u are never too young to have one! I hang in there, cuz God told me I had a purpose in life and well, one day I will find it!

Hey Guys! Maxxy here or Ladymaxx as some of you might remember! And Yes from AussieLand!! Wow its been such a long time since I have "spoken" to, well any of you lol Yes I do feel guilty, but life seems to have swept me off my feet! I'm now 18 years old (14 when I started chatting - holy crap!)- I was so young..lol I may have grown up just a tad, but my maturalty levels are still at an all time low! Well I had said in my bio that I was dating Josh Belanger and that things were great... Well, Things weren't quite so great... and I broke up with him 2 weeks before he came here. I met Cap in about September and Josh in October. or was it August?.. Anyway when *chuckles* I met cap is on his blog at http://cap.subspacelink.com. I told Josh after i broke up with him not to come here, even to school and he wouldn't listen. I even had a rl friend tell him that... he came, things went sour and then It was completely over when he left. Friendship and all, He thinks I did things to him, when he did things to me more that I disapproved... The next week was vacation for me...I was terminated from school by a teacher who didn't like me and terminated me cause of what she says was worker's comp. - I don't work. Anyway...

During my vacation, I was feeling hurt and was healing when i was talking to Cap - I was told from him that something was arriving right before he left so I didn't know what it was, till the doorbell rang and I had gotten some flowers which were sweet... After Cap's visit here, He had sent a box of "Thank you" chocolates...and Being a Generous friend... I appreciated that, because he had helped me when I needed it. he was there for me when I had been there for him.

We were friends for a while and Then I had mentioned about getting Star Trek First contact on dvd... few days later? hehe he gets it for me. which I still treasure greatly. We had started in dating a while after that. Valentines rolls around and I recieve a Necklace and I send him some things. I still do wear it often, Then... I receive a phone. So when i'm not online and am able to talk. I try to talk to him on it

Whether I'm online or not *chuckles*. we're together, and we've had our recent ups and downs.. but I pray that we'll get through this. Meanwhile, In March, I quit school and in February he was fired.... from a jerk of a boss.... So we're lookin' for work and Are hoping that some day We'll get together. On Easter, I sent him a Card and a little saying card too - for him to put in his billfold and a pocket coin that says "One Day At a Time."

Anyway, We have access to some things in the same areas. Which is fun and I'm ok with that. i am grateful and thankful for him gettin' me http://www.vampyresmedievil.net, http://saratoga.officersmesshall.com and for payin' for another year on Dreamrpg.com . Where am I now? And why don't I know?

My name is Lee Henderson and I have been chatting for about 6 years. I casually knew most of the chatters, intimately kne a few of them and have stayed good friends with some others.

I have not been involved in a relationship since Eliza back at the end of the 90's. She married 3 months after breaking up with me and I haven't found anyone else since.

I had my bad leg removed about a year ago (Feb 13th, 2003) and it certainly changed things. I had a staph infection that was kiling me slowly after the 3rd near death I had it amputated. That was not as bad as I had feared; I get around fairly well well with a prosthetic (the permanent leg was over $17,500!) but removing the leg was not the cure all that I had hoped it to be. I thought that after losing 80 lbs in les than a year my illness would be over but that was not to happen. I still suffer from periodic depression and chronic pain. There are many things I cannot do (walk in the woods, hike, climb up and down steep hills) even though I try to concentrate on the things I can do and I certainly appreciate not having to deal with a wheelchair.

I still try to make new friends in chat. I made a friend who evidently had a junked computer; that gave me the opportunity to rebuild one of my for her birthday. I enjoyed doing this, I love working with my hands, I did either building maintenance or pest control before I lost my leg.

I have worked for GEICO insurance for the past 5 years. I have enjoyed the plave and they were good to me during all the surgerie, sick days . If you know of any women, age 28-50 who might be looking for love, send them here.

Some of you may remember me from 1999-2001 when I frequented the various chat rooms (beginning with the original StarfleetLounge on startrek.com) and went under the names "bugg" then later, "Maranello".

At that time I lived in Barbados and had my first computer - a toshiba laptop with an ultra fast 366mhz CPU :-) After spending all my teen years in the Caribbean I moved back to England in 2000, but due to various reasons (not least the 4 or 5 hour time differential) lost contact with everyone in #Tiberius and #CR's Bar.

The last 3 years have been spent working in a financial company (which I loath - lol) however i'm currently trying to change careers.

The rest of my time is spent feeding my addiction to cars. I've very recently sold my prized black 1994 Honda Prelude (which I had for over two years) and bought a white 1998 Honda Integra Type R. I'm still surfing (only in the summer though!) and my hobbies have expanded to include fencing and karate...I've been doing that about a year and have just acheived my green belt. Hi ppls,The kids & I are doing really well. I'm driving a truck now (scary huh?) The kids aren't so small anymore 22,18 & 16. We still have our mini zoo. Still living in my lil part of so.cal. usa. Enjoying life at almost (gasp) 40. I don't get to chat like I used to life has gotten a bit busier since then but I am still here sort of & still hanging out with some of the oldtimers. Hello everyone! MissQ here. Where am I now? Well, I'm still living in Hobart, Tasmania. I'm now a very grown up *coughs* 20 year old and am still working in the brilliant bookstore - Angus and Robertson (now full-time though!). In two years I'm planning to travel to the UK. The reason? Well, the 7th and final Harry Potter book of course! I plan to go to the launch party there and afterwards travel around the country-side. Woo!

I'm no longer planning to move back to Melbourne (much to the annoyance of a lot of my friends there) but shall stay here for a while... Who would've thought, hey?! Anyways! Let's see.....well, I've been working for Telstra now in Customer Service for almost eight years. I've just recently celebrated my sixth wedding anniversary and must say I couldn't be happier. We bought our first home three years ago and are having great fun fixing that up. I'm currently studying as well part time to get my Diploma of Network Engineering in IT, which isn't easy I can tell you. We have a mad cat called Enzo and a physco puppy called Star. QV

For those who don't know, QV passed away December 7th, 2003. QV's presence will no doubt be missed; her friendliness and attentiveness made her a very positive influence on those around her. Besides these qualities, when I think of QV I will remember in particular her active involvement in keeping our group together. She was one of the few to attend the original Starfleet Lounge circa 1997, staying through the PDE years and after its disbandment, into #Tiberius and #Cr'sbar, before starting #Theden. She was also devoted to keeping this website running, writing up a brand new movie review weekly for a number of months which she has intended to continue doing and seemed to enjoy immensely. Its sometimes hard to truly know a person you've never met save through chat, but its very apparent that QV was a very genuine, honest, and caring person, both in chat and evidently in real life. This year I left school and am now at college doing an Advanced AVCE course in I.C.T. I'm still very much addicted to all aspects of computers, and chat although I now do most of that chatting on a small place called Knightnet. However unlike when I chatted back at the bar I do have much more of a life now and spend a lot more time away from IRC. I FINALLY got a picture of myself on the Internet (Only got it yesterday actually!) but seem to have lost contact with everyone who ever asked me for one throughout the years. I'll be turning 18 in a few months so that should be fun and providing I ace the test I should be driving in a matter of weeks. Well here we go again. Once again CaptRiker is nagging me about getting a paragraph submitted. Anyway, so what have I been doing. Well pretty much the same as usual. Working, kids, and trivia as usual. I've also been going to Vegas and the casinos. But what else is new.....lol I've continued to meet new people from online. I do a lot of traveling. Besides traveling numerous places in the United States, I've now been to Australia once and Canada twice. So I guess that's about it. BYE!!

Way back in the day, like 1998 or 1999 I joined PDE chat & became a late night chat junky. I tried to keep up with all the chatroom changes... the splintering of the old crew, the server changes, etc. but eventually dropped off the face of the chatworld... to summarize what has happened since:

I grew restless and decided to make the big move to Arizona & wound up studying and graduating in Astronomy, Chemistry and Physics. I was all set for grad school when stuff hit the fan (i.e. a refusal to falsify data on a big project didn't work to my advantage)... my dad passed on & my grandma broke her hip and needed rtc support. So... I'm now working as a radio telescope operator & taking care of gramma. I'm dating a guy who isn't a Trekkie (I'm working on it lol) but still a fellow sci-eng nerd, so things are going well there. Er... & with work requirements have temporarily given up on driving old Saab 99's from the 1970's & have a used Honda Civic (better gas milage by 10 mpg) instead. That's about all. I'll see everyone at the next reunion!

Spot (now known as Mark)

Hi everyone. Well, its been a long time since I chatted with you all, but I still think of the bar occasionally and there will always be fond memories of chat and the people I chatted with.

I've been busy getting on with the everyday stuff called Life with my three ladies - my wife and my daughters. the SpotBabies are now three and six... both very clever (um.. do parents always say that?) and pretty good (okay, except when they are tired and grumpy). SpotBaby One *l*o*v*e*s* school and has taken to it like a duck to water. In less than a year she's already reading short novels and can quote skills for achievement - persistence, confidence, organisation etc. SpotBaby Two thinks she is ready for school and tried to behave very grown up. She is a very blonde cutie. (And I don't mean blonde as in dumb blonde lol). Barbie, Nemo and Thunderbirds vie for popularity with both girls.

MrsSpot and I have now been married almost twelve years. MrsSpot loves spending time with the girls and loves being a stay at home mum. (I wish it paid better!)

Mark is still working in education. As well as teaching full time, I have just completed an educational research project (IT related) and my paper will be published shortly. (Hint ; Never try to do research and work full time.) I am due to present my findings at a research forum in several weeks. (Note about hint: I've already ignored my own advice and applied to do more research - this time on mathematices and technology.)

Away from work I enjoy being a dad, gardening (I am still hybridising daylilies and have had some promising results), creating web pages and collecting Eurythmics and the Grammy award winning, Golden Globe winning and now Academy Award winning Annie Lennox. I want to tell you that my health improved a lot better since last time we chat. I am way less sick than before. I am really glad you check on me. I really appreciated. In november, in my town, some Science Fiction stars came to Montreal and there was a Sci Fi Expo. And I thought I may share them with the people from the chatroom so people will have a crack at it. I still live in Montreal. I still work for Bell Sympatico (one of the most important Internet Provider in Canada). It will be fun to see the section where have they been. Well, surprise, surprise, surprise. Breahn and I are moving in together, and I couldn't be happier. :) She got ahold of me a month ago, and we picked up like it had only been a few weeks we had been out of contact. One thing led to another, and feelings were put out onto the table, and we both felt the same, in love. I can't think of a better way to end 11 years of living alone than to move in with the love of my life. Though I need to apparently upgrade my lifestyle from single guy, to live-in girlfriend, lol. Well, here's to the next 20 years. /me is here, let the fun begin!! Love you baby, and talk to you all later. End program.

Well, what have I been up to. The last few years have been fairly quiet for me. 2002 was a sad year with the death of my father at 56 from cancer and also the death of 2 of my cats within weeks of my father's death. Needless to say, not a great year. 2003 on the other hand was fabulous as I finally got to fly to the US and visit Cetacean. We had a great time and I got to see both Washington State and Arizona and I'm looking forward to my next trip there. I enjoy playing trivia in #knowitall but thats about the only place I venture to in chat these days. I'm still an accountant and still working for the same firm, and enjoying it very much. And well, thats about it folks. Take care :)

Hi all!

Sorry it's taken me so long to write something, but as the saying goes: "So many cheesecakes, so little time!", lol. Anyway, I'm still here in the Seattle area working 3 days on, 4 days off with developementally disabled people. Long hours, but oh when those 4 days off come, WOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOO! O.K. o.k., so I'm not as young as I used to be and it takes 1 of those days off for me to recover, but that still leaves me with 3 days FREE, WHEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Steve and I are still together, well, 2,000 miles apart "together". (...talk to him about that, lol) He was out here in April, 2004, to visit me, and in May I visited with him in Chicago for, hmmmm, someone's b-day. (May is BOTH our b-day month, so keep guessing, lol) A good time was had by us both, I believe...a tropical PARADISE, it was, lol. :) In just a few weeks (end of June), Steve will be coming back out to visit again. We've been taking lots of pics and as soon as we figure out how to eliminate that "JOY EGG" thing in our photos, we'll share with everyone, lol.

Sure do miss chatting with everyone! Does anyone chat anymore? How about another reunion some "soonday", some year? It's been great reading about everyone. I'm still at my old e-mail addy, ZoaLinda@Yahoo.com, if anyone wants to write. I'm terrible at writing back, though, lol. OH, BTW, if anyone ever gets any porno spam from my e-addy, it's NOT really from me. (grrrr Yahoo...) As everyone knows, "I'm just an innocent girl trying to have fun"!!! lol.
