Getting Started

So you want to play?

Well it is simple really, you just need a few things.

• First off do you have Quake ?
  If not you can get a demo of Quake here (8.7mb). This is will do fine, but you will be restricted to where you can play.
  If nothing else it will give you idea of what Quake is all about. Then if you like you can make the huge investment
  that is about £10. Cheapo!

• Next you need to get patches these allow you to play an internet game.
  There are two of them. Get these in order and install them in order;

  The Quake v1.06 patch (0.4Mb) will upgrade any previous version of Quake to v1.06. Then get Quake v1.08 patch (0.2Mb) which will upgrade v1.06 to v1.08.

• Right. You can now play Quake over the internet.

• But there are still some things that you should get that should make it that much more easier.
  First is Quake World. This was designed to make Quake more easily playable over the internet,
  and it is a real must for any-one who wants to get the best out of Quake.
