Marvel: Infinity F.A.Q.

What is Marvel: Infinity?
Marvel: Infinity is an organized fan-fiction website using Marvel Comics as a base. Any of the titles you would see in Marvel? They can be here. Of course, they'll be a little different from the current titles ...

Well, okay, but what's "fan-fiction"?
Fan-fiction is where a group of people write stories about their favorite characters from TV, movies, or comic books. Sometimes, you'll stumble upon an "archive" which does not keep continuity -- the stories aren't inter-related.  On this site, we do have continuity. This means all of the stories on this web-site take place in a  shared universe, and the ramifications of one story or title may spread throughout the entire site. The only exception would be the occasional "What If?" type story, or an occasional re-telling of a tale from the original comic books when they are relevant to the current stories being told.

How is Marvel: Infinity different from Marvel Comics?
Glad you asked. The "Infinity-verse" is set five years in the future of the Marvel Universe.
Lots of things have happened ...
Major events: In the year 2000, the fear of the "Y2K bug" led to such a huge leap forward in technology that only a few years later, true artificial intelligence was born. Huge leaps forward in medical and warfare technology have been made. And a more of a reluctance to use these weapons has began to grow.
Professor X is dead. He died in a battle between the X-Men and Apocalypse. Hank McCoy, along with Moira MacTaggert, found a cure for the Legacy Virus in 2002, bringing mutant-human relations back toward the "non-biggot" side.
Due to a general "cooling" of attitudes all over the planet, the founding Avengers felt they would best serve their countries separate from the Avengers, believing that it did not work anymore. They seemed to be doing more property damage than anything else.
At present, it is unknown what else has changed for Earth's heroes ... I leave that up for the future writers to decide ...

How are the "issues" presented?
Each issue of each series is to be monthly (at least, that is the goal) Each issue is wriiten out in the form of a novel ... and each issue is about the length of a relatively long chapter in a book. (More will be explained if you would like to write a title ...)

And how do I get to write for Marvel: Infinity?
Well, check out the section labeled "submissions" on the main page to see how.

What would my duties as writer be?
Writers have one main duty, to write new issues. Now, in writing them, you need to keep in mind continuity (with the site and most Marvel continuity) and characterization. But, of course, if you've been approved for your title, you have already showed that you are up to these tasks.

Okay, I've got the go-ahead for my title, now how do I write it?
For the answer to this, also go to the Submissions page.

All the series I'd like to write for are taken ... but I still want to write for Marvel: Infinity. What should I do?
Okay, this shouldn't happen for a while, as we are just starting the site up ... But the following options are open to you: You could write a mini-series, or even a one-shot of your favorite character or team. Or you could do an original series, with new characters, to interact with the "Infinity-verse". The only thing you have to keep in mind  is to discuss these things with the writers who are currently using established characters if you want to use them in your series or one-shot. (Of course, you still need them to be approved by the Editor-in-Chief ::wink wink nudge nudge::)

Well, that should be about it ... If you have any questions you don't see on here, feel free to e-mail me, D. C. Fisher, at jafisherusa@netscape.net with them, and I'll do my best to answer them for you.
