Welcome

To those who have been here before, welcome back. To those who are visiting for the first time, please click here to read my prior posts which explain what this web site is all about. I have completed my proposed V revival with the addition of the fourth and final script installment. Entitled "Victory Day," it marks the climatic conclusion of the struggle between the human resistance and the Visitors. Appearances are made by the Visitors' new leader, Maximillian, as well as the Visitors' enemy, the Alliance. Since only a fleeting reference was made to the Alliance in the original miniseries, I did not have any guidance as to what an alien from the Alliance might look like. At the outset, I ruled out humanoids with funny foreheads, a favorite on Star Trek, or more exotic creatures like those from Star Wars. Instead, I wanted aliens who could appear outwardly human not unlike the Visitors. Still, as you will see, the influence of Star Trek and Star Wars is present in other, more obvious, ways.

In addition, the story more deeply examines some of the characters who were carried over from the original miniseries. That was done with Julie Parrish in the earlier installments by introducing her family and revealing her past. This time around, the focus is on Ham Tyler and Diana. On the surface, there is not a lot of subtlety to either of these characters. One appears cold-hearted, and the other is cold-blooded. However, I hope that by going beneath the surface, they can be seen in a very different light.

This last installment was always intended to be a definitive ending to the V saga. When I began writing these scripts, I had a pretty firm idea of where the story would begin and where it would end. The rest was merely a matter of figuring out how to get from point A to point B. However, once that was accomplished, I realized that there remained other exciting story possibilities which could take V in a whole new direction. Perhaps I will explore those some day. As always, your comments and suggestions are welcome.
