Just what are these books?  How when what where...all the technical stuff...worry not!

The Basics

Book 1 is titled Birth of the Firebringer,

Book 2 is Dark Moon, and

Book 3 is The Son of Summer Stars...all by Meredith Ann Pierce.

When?

Birth of the Firebringer, hereafter referred to as "BOTF", was published in 1985 by Four Winds Press (which is a sub-division of Macmillian) in hardcover, then was released later in softcover by Point.

Dark Moon then came only in hardcover, in 1992 by Little, Brown and Company.  This is the hardest of the three to find: just search a bajillion major public libraries and you should find one, though.  It does exist!

The Son of Summer Stars actually only (fairly) recently went out of print (in December 1998).  Strangely, however, it's still not as easy to find as BOTF...but it's definitely nowhere near as evasive as Dark Moon.  It had the same publisher as Dark Moon: Little, Brown and Company, and was first released (again, only in hardcover) in 1996.

How?

Ah, the most difficult question to answer.  There are many approaches to tracking down copies of the Firebringer Trilogy...

If you are new to them (and somehow, quite amazingly found this website and are reading this and are interested in searching for these books), the most plausible way to get introduced to them is to visit the biggest local library you have in town, and sit down and search those computers.  This is how I first found the FT...through my most wonderful library.  Lucky for me, they had all three books.  Mayhaps you shall be as lucky.

If you desperately want your own copies of these books, there are many book exchange sites that have copies of some of the books, most specifically BOTF.  Some to mention aaare...

http://www.amazon.com (with lots of luck...but there recently have been jackpots of DM there [which sold out so fast they left all us poor FT fans in the dark as to what the snidazzle was going on!]...so you neva know!)

Happy Book Searching!

Many at the IFAS want a book petition to Meredith Ann Pierce or one of her publishers asking them to reprint the FT.  I personally think if they would reprint the books, they would be pretty successful...
