My little place on the web.

Note to viewers: This web site is best viewed with your eyes open.

This web site is devoted to sharing my original poetry and writings that I have written since I was about 14. As they are 'my' works, they are not to be copied or otherwise reproduced without my permission. If you notice that most of my poems center around God, it's because they do. Not all my poems have a 'happy' theme to them, but I have come to realize something: At the worst times in my life, God was still there (often it was then that he worked most powerfully). I truly hope my words can be an inspiration to you no matter what your current relation with Jesus is. If you want to send me an e-mail, the link is at the bottom of this page.

~Jesse R.

I magination echoes softly.

R eality a booming roar.

W hen I was a child I had perfect ears.

B ut I can't hear that whisper anymore.

I 'm sure I heard that whisper once before.

OK, oops, it's been a little while since the last update. Just had midterms this week so that is off my shoulders now, pheww! -BG- Updated the Poem of the Week (it's a good'n). Got back from the church youth retreat this week also and am still recovering from that...for more info on that go to www.lifers.cc and click on 'What's Happening' then on 'Special Events' to see a brief summary of some of the stuff that happened. Suffice it to say that it was awesome (as always)!

Ok, I am finally able to update again. I added a new Poem of the Week today (although it's beginning to start to become my poem of the month. =/ Anyhow...Like I mentioned in my last update, I have been working on a web page for my church's youth group. It came out REALLY awesome so check it out (and book-mark it) The address is www.lifers.cc
Surf happily.

It's been a little bit since I last posted. I updated the Poem of the Week for this week. I've been working on another site that is for my church's youth group this past couple weeks, so I've been keeping pretty busy. When I get it completed (hopefully by the end of this week) I'll include a link to it from this page. ::waves at the people who are reading this::

I have some important news this time around. But first the formalities... Updated the Poem of the Week today so check it out. ;) OK, now for the important news. A poem I recently submitted to Poetry.com has been selected as a semi-finalist in their International Open Poetry Contest. The 'finals' (Grand Prize = $1000) are in May so I'll find out then exactly how I faired (I'm actually completely humbled that I am even a semi-finalist). And as if that wasn't enough, they have also requested that I allow them to publish my poem in a poetry anthology that will be published in Fall 2001. This is the poem I submitted: (it should look familiar to anyone who has read the whole site here)

STRESSED (Acrostic)

Sacrifice time
To the dark god of haste
Relinquish our lives to the
Endless rat race
So many worries
Societies plague
Entrapped by the hurries and
Demands of the day

Tonight, I updated the Poem of the Week as well as adding a new Untitled poem in the My Writings section. The My Writings section has also undergone a format change to look a little more spunky. Take a look, it has a bit more 'flare' now. ::weg::
April 5 --
Made some more changes to the poem that I have been editting online. It's called You Are There, and if you haven't seen it up until now check it out. It is currently on revision 3. I'm adding on line by line as I write them so check back often if you care to watch it take shape.
April 3 --
Revised two long-standing poems in the My Writings section. They flow a little better, and I think are a little more focused than they were before. They are Bullets & Fade; check them out!
April 1 --
April Fools! Even better, it is daylight savings time as well as if April Fools Day wasn't enough fun in and of itself. No fooling to be done here today though ;). Updated the new Poem of the Week. Check it out.
March 31 --
I added another poem, The Dragon's Lair in the My Writings section. This has been one that has been in the Drawer for a while awaiting finally retouching. I'm glad to say it is finally finished. You may also notice there have been some minor cosmetic changes done to the entire My Writings section that give it a more 'finished' look.
March 29 --
I added a new 'Writing' in the My Writings section. It is called, You are There. It is only the first section so far so check back and watch as it is created & editted over the next week or two.
March 26 --
Ok, I'm feeling a little better now, actually updated two weeks back to back. Wohoo! Added a new Poem of the Week! Make sure you take a look at the archives on the left bar of the P.O.W. (Poem of the Week) Page. There you'll find all the poems of the week from monthes and years past. I also took the time and added a research paper on euthanasia that I wrote a couple years ago. Look for that in the My Writings section.
March 20 --
This web page is starting to get a little depressing. Not because of the content but because of how rarely I am able to make the updates I like to. Anyhow, this week I added a more recent picture of myself in the About Me section. I also added a new poem of the week and made the final (long-awaited) updates to the My Writings section so it is no longer under construction. These are my longer works so check them out. And most of all; enjoy your visit!

Wow, has it really been this long since I've updated ::grimaces:: Oh well, added a new poem of the week today and made some other minor adjustments.
November 27 --
Sorry I've been a little lax on keeping this site up to day the past couple of weeks. Between school and work, the past month has been crazy. The good news is the semester is almost over ::sigh of relief:: Anyhow, added a new poem of the week today, just wrote this one tonight so it's fresh off the press. I'm more or less out of new ideas for this page, so if you see anything that you think is missing or would look good, feel free to use the Suggestions link to send me some ideas (or just to say hi).
