Any Means Necessary: NC-17 - Mulder suffers a brutal sexual attack, which unexpectedly puts him and the Consortium on the same side.

This is a beautifully told story, and contains my favourite ScullyComfort scene, The Tummy Rub :)

PhaHks Series by GVB: NC-17 - Mulder is abducted and returned eight years later.

A very intriguing science-fiction story, this one takes you all over the galaxy for quality MulderTorture.

Terminal illness forces both Mulder and Scully to accept inevitable changes in their lives.

I didn't realise until I made up this list that some of my favourite stories are character deaths...A heartbreaking story of Mulder's struggle with terminal illness: tearjerker

Resurgam by Pellinor: PG - Mulder and Scully struggle to come to terms with an "accident" that threatens to change their lives forever, unaware that the danger is still far from over.

True to the characters of Mulder and Scully, this story follows them through an extremely painful and confusing time in Mulder's life. Very enjoyable, angsty reading!

Gold by Dawn M. Pares: PG - Scully's growing tumour causes blindness and Angst-o-Rama.

A simply beautiful vignette. Scully is dying of the cancer and has lost her sight. It contains one of my favourite lines: "She can feel Mulder's hand hover by her shoulder, should she slip. She doesn't need to see it to know it's there; it's Mulder, and it's what he does."

Therapy Series by Amperage: R - Fox William Mulder goes into Mandatory Therapy after an incident on a case involving a young kidnap victim and is forced to confront the demons of his childhood.

I think that this is the best story of Mulder in therapy. MulderAngst galore :)

The Price of Empathy by Dx : R - Scully's thoughts, feelings and speculations over a particularly bad day for her partner.

This one is short but so intense you'll feel like you just read a 500K MulderTorture epic. From Scully's viewpoint.

Acadia: R - A multiple murder case in Maine tests Mulder and Scully's partnership.

Here we have my personal favourite Profiler!Mulder story. Lots of MulderAngst and a refreshingly visual writing style.

Mistress by Amperage: NC-17
In a world where love is expressed to many children in anger and sharp words, in belts and open hands or closed fists, is it wrong for the adult to find love in the sensation of pain or in giving pain? Mulder's mistress and dominatrix is killed, but he cannot reveal his relationship with her as he profiles the serial killer who slayed her.

Oooo, ingenious MulderTorture! Mulder's dominatrix (I know, "Dominatrix?!" But I promise the story's great) is killed and he has to investigate her death while hiding his involvement with her.

Iolokus Series by Mustang Sally and RivkaT [I'm currently trying to find a way to link to this story!]

*The* most intriguing fanfic ever written. Mulder and Scully (especially Scully) are much more angry than we're used to seeing them, but I can't tell you how great this story is. The anger lightens up after the first story, and all the way through there are such creative metaphors and similes that it becomes one that is hard to put down until you're finished!

Sixty by Dawson Rambo: PG-13 - Mulder at Scully's deathbed.

Pull out the Kleenex box! I challenge anyone to stay dry-eyed reading this one...this is the only fanfic that I couldn't finish all at once because I couldn't see the screen anymore...Heartwrenching! To anyone who has never cried reading a fanfic: this will break your streak.
