Chapter 110 Florida Statute Volunteers

Brevard County Health Department

The Brevard County Health Department Volunteer Services Program has had excellent community support and participation. We are very proud of our citizens, who contribute their time and talents, in helping achieve the goals of the Department of Health, "To serve the community and to improve the health of all Floridians."

We encourage all newly retired staff to volunteer, thereby, utilizing volunteers who know the programs, the people, and the community. In the past year, we had four of our retired staff, including our former director, Dr. Manuel Garcia, return as volunteers.

One of our health department’s most successful volunteer efforts is our Adult Dental Clinic. The statistics on this program are reported separately, but are nevertheless, very impressive. The Dental Society and the dentists in our community are an exemplary example of people helping people.

We will continue to strive to improve upon on our successes concentrating on continuous volunteer recruitment and program development.
