VOLUSIA COUNTY

The Volusia County Health Department augments services with the use of volunteers. These volunteers assist in clerical duties, special events, WIC peer counselors as well as providing medical services. The health department also utilizes a mascot named "Granny Nanny Roo" that makes public appearances in community events, parades, and outreach efforts.

Some other ways volunteers can help at the health department:

  • Counsel breastfeeding moms

  • Read to children in waiting rooms

  • Assist in clinics (MDs, RNs, LPNs, Clerical)

  • Do paperwork for Flu Fighters Campaign and Back to School Immunization Clinics

  • Play Nanny Roo

  • Participate in health fairs
