Art Archives

I've been fascinated by Art since I was a young child. As well as being an avid painter and dabbler in computer-based artwork, I have an interest in the theories and history of Art. I'm a graduate with a joint honours degree in Computing / History of Art, and wrote a dissertation on the role of computers in the history and practice of Art as part of my final year work.

My main interests lie from the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist eras, through the revolutionary period of the early Twentieth Century (particularly Cubism and Futurism), right up to contemporary work. Painting and contemporary digital media predominate my interests, but I'm not limited to just these! In fact, I have a fascination with non-Western art, particularly Native American works.

At the moment, I'm seriously toying with the idea of putting some of my own work up on this page. However, time and practicalities of the work involved has delayed this. The intention is to restore my dissertation to the website, after a slight overhaul, and back this up with an online gallery of my work. The gallery is the main problem, as I will have to figure out a way of translating large painted canvas works over to the digital medium in a way which will please a perfectionist such as myself. My digital work is not really worthy of display at the moment, but I hope to have some better compositions available soon - in particular, work related to my current series of the Grand Canyon.

Here are some links to things which interest me. If you have any links you feel I might like and you want to share it with others, send them in! I gathered some of these in the process of researching my dissertation, with Stelarc's human-machine performance making a particularly dramatic effect on my ideas and outlook.

Enjoy the links!
