Welcome to the

Right now in its barest, most preliminary stages, the Armourers Ring is here to provide a home base for armouring information pages on the web. It doesn't matter if your page is simply instructional, or historical, or in catalog form, or whatever. As long as it concerns armour, armouring, or any other related topic, it is welcome in the ring.

Instructions

If you want your page to be included in the ring you will need to do the following:

1.) Have a page that meets the general guidelines of the Armourers Ring. It must have something to do with armour. This can include instructional sites, historical site, personal sites, catalog site, SCA combat armour, LRP armour, or pretty much anything else that has to do with armour. I have given the ring a general "R" rating as a ring, which means that catalogs that contain adult sections are welcome. I do ask, however, that sites in the ring do not contain any hardcore pornography. We don't want to scare off the younger generation of armourers.

2.) Fill out the Addition Form to be added to the Armourers Ring Queue. I will review your site and add your page to the ring. For those of you whom I have already contacted to join the ring, your site will not be re-reviewed. After you fill in this form, you will be automatically e-mailed a site id # that uniquely identifies your site in the ring. Save this email!

3.) You must add a small menu on your main armor page that allows access to the webring. (This is usually the page that you entered as the URL in the addition form.) This code must be added to your web page in order for you to fully become a member of the ring! An example of this HTML might look like this:

This Armourers Ring site is owned by
David Heirtzler.

After you cut and paste this code onto your armor page,
you must replace anything that says "SITE#" with your site number, and you must also put your email address and your name where it says "me@youremail.com" and "ME".
The ID number is the number you will receive in your email after you fill out the addition form from step #2 (above). For example, if your site number is 34, you replace anything that says SITE# with 34. Confused? There is an example below, or you can email the ring administrator.

Here is the code for the table:

<!--START TABLE CUT HERE--> <!-- Example code in table form --> <CENTER> <P><TABLE BORDER=5 CELLPADDING=3 CELLSPACING=3 WIDTH=60%> <TR><TH> <FONT Size=2> <a href="/Area51/Cavern/4200/ringindex.html" target="_top"> <img src="/Area51/Cavern/4200/home2.gif" align="left"></a> <a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=armour&id=SITE#&next" target="_top"> <img src="/Area51/Cavern/4200/next9.gif" align="right"></a> This <a href="/Area51/Cavern/4200/ringindex.html" target="_top">Armourers Ring</a> site is owned by <BR> <a href="me@youremail.com"><FONT SIZE="2">ME</FONT></a>. <BR><BR> <FONT SIZE="2"> Want to join the <A HREF="/Area51/Cavern/4200/ringindex.html" target="_top">Armourers Ring</A>?</FONT> </TH></TR> <TR><TH> <FONT Size=3> [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=armour&id=SITE#&sprev" target="_top">Skip Prev</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=armour&id=SITE#&prev" target="_top">Prev</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=armour&id=SITE#&next" target="_top">Next</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=armour&id=SITE#&skip" target="_top">Skip Next</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?random&ring=armour" target="_top">Random</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=armour&id=SITE#&next5" target="_top">Next 5</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=armour&list" target="_top">List Sites</a>] </FONT> </TH></TR></TABLE> </CENTER> <!--STOP TABLE CUT HERE-->

Here is an example

if your site number was 34, your name was Bob, and your email address was bob@bobmail.com, your code would look like this:

<!--START TABLE CUT HERE--> <!-- Example code in table form --> <CENTER> <P><TABLE BORDER=5 CELLPADDING=3 CELLSPACING=3 WIDTH=60%> <TR><TH> <FONT Size=2> <a href="/Area51/Cavern/4200/ringindex.html" target="_top"> <img src="/Area51/Cavern/4200/home2.gif" align="left"></a> <a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=armour&id=34&next" target="_top"> <img src="/Area51/Cavern/4200/next9.gif" align="right"></a> This <a href="/Area51/Cavern/4200/ringindex.html" target="_top">Armourers Ring</a> site is owned by <BR> <a href="bob@bobmail.com"><FONT SIZE="2">Bob</FONT></a>. <BR><BR> <FONT SIZE="2"> Want to join the <A HREF="/Area51/Cavern/4200/ringindex.html" target="_top">Armourers Ring</A>?</FONT> </TH></TR> <TR><TH> <FONT Size=3> [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=armour&id=34&sprev" target="_top">Skip Prev</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=armour&id=34&prev" target="_top">Prev</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=armour&id=34&next" target="_top">Next</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=armour&id=34&skip" target="_top">Skip Next</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?random&ring=armour" target="_top">Random</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=armour&id=34&next5" target="_top">Next 5</a>] [<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=armour&list" target="_top">List Sites</a>] </FONT> </TH></TR></TABLE> </CENTER> <!--STOP TABLE CUT HERE-->

And your web page will have this on it:

This Armourers Ring site is owned by
Bob.

Notice that the graphics in this example table are referenced through Geocities. I would recommend that you copy them over to your own page and refrence them locally. For a page of potetial clipart and icons, go to the Armourers Ring Clipart page. This will save on download time. You can save these in most browsers by right-clicking on them (or on a Mac, holding down the mouse button) and choosing the "save" option.

4.) Once you have your site id number, you can edit your link profile using webring's Profile Editor.

5.) You will recieve e-mail once your site has been moved into the ring. Please note that your site must have a basic menu like the one shown above for it to be included in the ring, otherwise your site would be a dead-end and the ring would no longer be a ring.

6.) If, at any point, you decide that you no longer want to be in the ring, just email me, and I'll move your site out of the ring and back into the queue for two weeks. If you decide during that time that you want to be back into the ring I'll put you back, otherwise it will be removed from the queue at the end of that time.

I do not rule this ring, I only manage it. I take suggestions from ring members very seriously, and the future may find everyone who wants to having an equal role in the decisions that effect the ring.

If it comes to my attention that a member is abusing the ring, I will not simply remove the offending page without question. I will give every ring member that wishes to, to vote on the fate of the link in question. I will not retain the right to override such decisions: what the ring wants, the ring gets.

Links that become invalid or dead will be removed from the ring as soon as possible.
