Battle Zone Planets: Political Alignment

A source of confusion has reared its fearsome head over the Battle Zone!
Political alignment for certain planets in the galactic conflict has been
deemed unclear by many!
FEAR NOT! I have the end-all, be-all solution to calm your worries!

This page is only intended to serve as a simple reference for Battle Zone participants. Very little information on any planets will be presented (with a few exceptions) aside from information regarding political alignment in the galactic conflict. For an exhaustive listing of many planets and descriptions in the Star Wars galaxy, please visit The Star Wars Planets Guide, and maybe you can e-mail the administrator of that site and thank him for taking the time to prepare such a great site.

What will be found on this page are the names of planets that have been brought to my attention by BZ participants, or planets I felt needed to be mentioned. These planets can be a source of confusion for some. Some of the planets, by my own observations, have a level of confusion built into them.

If there is a particular planet that you have an interest in, and I have not mentioned it here, do not hesitate to let me know.

Bakura - An isolated world in the Outer Rim Territories, Bakura was originally settled by the Bakur Corporation during the final years of the Clone Wars (a speculative mining corporation).  The Bakuran planetary government is horribly mismanaged, and heavily laden with factions and political parties that prevent any REAL issues from being truly dealt with.  Bakura benefits from dealings with both the Rebel Alliance and the Empire, and the system has been used a few times as a common ground for the two enemy forces to enjoy short periods of truce.

Balmora - A factory world located at the fringes of the Galactic Core. During the reign of the Empire, the Balmorrans manufactured weapons for the Imperial army, and were the primary builders of the AT-ST walker. In the mainstream Star Wars universe, the Balmorrans threw off Imperial rule after the Emperor died the second time and began supplying the Alliance with weapons. In this universe, the Balmorrans would not have thrown off their Imperial masters. While the planet is officially Imperial, though, it continues to support the Alliance through undisclosed dealings.

Berchest - Berchest is one of the largest trade worlds of the Anthos sector, and benefits from a healthy volume of Imperial traffic.  Considered one of the great wonders of the Old Republic, Berchest has thrived as a major tourist world.  Since the days of the Old Republic, Berchest has been hailed as a planet of extraordinary beauty.  Its saline-rich seas have left huge crystaline deposits along the coasts, and formed them into amazing crystal structures.  Some of these crystal deposits are so enormous that artists and architects have been able to sculpt them into actual cities.

Bespin - According to Tashannoc, in his writings of Dalon Marr, Bespin and Cloud City repelled Imperial control and became a haven for underworld dealings. I will have Tashannoc write more about Bespin to make this more thorough.

Bilbringi - This planet bears mentioning due to the fact that it was here where the time line for Star Wars and the Battle Zone have their greatest differences. Bilbringi is aligned with the Empire.

Bnach - An Imperial prison world. Rock quarries provide prisoners with hard labor as ore is mined to use in the process of ship building.

Bpfassh - A system, rather than a planet, Instrumental to Grand Admiral Thrawn just before the battle of Sluis Van. Bpfassh is fairly neutral due to the level of distrust the Bpfasshi have for Jedi.

Byss - Two planets exist with this name.

Chandrila - Located in the core, this world is constantly under change. It sits close enough to Coruscant to be considered an Imperial world, but has enough sympathy for the Rebellion that many residents of the planet would prefer to be considered Alliance supporters. This planet is not aligned with either faction, but it is certainly not neutral in the conflict.

Clak'dor VII - Located in the Mayagil sector, Clak'dor VII is a small planet orbiting the large white star Colu and is the homeworld of the peaceful, highly-evolved Bith. Generations ago, two cities unleashed gene-altering biological weapons on each other, mutating the planet's surface and forcing all surviving Biths to live in hermetically sealed domed cities. Clak'dor VII, due to the disaster, is unable to produce either basic needs for its citizens or goods for export and thus many Biths sell their intellectual abilities for employment as technical consultants. The Bith species is most expediently used by the Empire, and the Bith government openly supports the Empire.

Corellia - It is my preference that Corellia be neutral on the BZ. However, it is very close to Coruscant, and therefore is subject to many whims of the Empire. Imperial influence over Corellia is strong, but only a minor Imperial presence rests on the planet itself, giving Corellian Security Force (CorSec) much of their own responsibility in keeping the peace.

The Corporate Sector - A portion of the galaxy that was set aside for the purpose of doing business. The Corporate Sector has no real government, but is governed by the Corporate Sector Authority (CSA). The sector has tens of thousands of star systems which do not seem to have any native sentient life-forms. The CSA does a great deal of business with the Empire, but has dealings with the Alliance and other organizations as well.

Coruscant/Imperial Center - As far as the BZ is concerned, this planet is the doozy that gets everyone confused. After the battle of Endor, Coruscant fell from Imperial rule to the fledgling New Republic. It was taken back by the Empire only a few years later. Coruscant is still seen as the center of Imperial rule, and the Emperor insists that it be referred to as Imperial Center.

Cron Drift - The Cron Drift is located in the Auril sector of the Outer Rim, between the six remaining Auril systems. The Drift was once a densely-packed group of ten unstable stars known as the Cron Cluster, located in the Cron system but was destroyed during the Sith War, when a chain reaction was set off which ignited all ten stars in a multiple supernova. The shockwave from the explosion destroyed three of the nine Auril systems, and necessitated the evacuation of the great Jedi planet of Ossus. Multicolored gasses from the multiple explosion still fill the area, and powerful x-rays and gamma radiation help mask any visiting ships from sensor probes. The Drift also contains a large asteroid belt. Overall the Cron Drift is an excellent place to hide from prying eyes, as well as a prime location for an asteroid mining facility, assuming protection from the radiation can be established.

Daluuj - A world with unstable atmospheric conditions with an Imperial training center. This training center is used to prepare troops for hostile environments. Daluuj is near Mon Calamari.

Da Soocha - An uncharted water world, Mon Calamari and Quarren refugees fled to this world after the recent attack on their planet by Sith Mistress Kazar. This world is aligned with the Alliance.

Deominia - Darin and Domino de Devastator's home world. This planet is not actually a part of the galaxy, but is located within a mysterious dark nebula. This planet is rich in resources, and is the home for a growing corporation known as Galactastar Corporation. Deominia is considered a strong ally of the Empire. (See the accompanying page)

Duro - This planet is the site of an Imperial Reprogramming Institute as well as a toxic waste dumping ground.

Honoghr - Planets do not attract the Empire unless they have one of two qualities: they are important galactcally speaking or they are ripe for exploitation. Honoghr was the latter; it's planet's population is the Noghri, a gullible race of catlike beings who exhibit abilities such as that of moving with little or no sound and naturally being excellent combat artists. Through an elaborate deception, Lord Vader tricked the Noghri to believing that they were indebted to the Empire in general and to Vader specifically.
Often, the Noghri were used as Death Commandos for assassination missions. During Thrawn's reign, Princess Leia visited the planet and revealed this deception to them, freeing them of their debt to the Empire. The main settlement of Noghri live in a hidden valley among some mountains to hide themselves from the Empire. The Noghri themselves have thrown off the yoke of their Imperial oppressors and offer heavy support to the alliance.

Jomark - The planet Jomark is a peaceful one, which gained momentary notice during Grand Admiral Thrawn's reign of the Empire. The planet is mostly ocean, with one major continent called Kalish and many smaller islands. The planet was colonized during the days of the Old Republic, although like many colonies those days, it faded from both sight and mind. Without a continued supply of technology, the populace became somewhat primitive, shying away from the blasters and power packs that their ancestors had used and relying on hunting and fishing for food instead. The colonists call themselves just that, although few know what the term "colonist" means anymore. The Dark Jedi Master Joruus C'Baoth took over the planet and used it to set a trap for Luke Skywalker. Skywalker escaped the trap, however, and left the planet. With his plans foiled, C'Baoth left as well, leaving the planet's populace to it's sleepy, small town lives.

Kessel - Located near a cluster of black holes, Kessel is mined for its valuable glitterstim spice. This planet is under strict control of the Empire.

Kathol Rift - This area of the galaxy is home to a race of monks known as the Aing-Tii. Not a lot is known about them, but that could change.

Mon Calamari - This planet has spent the last twenty years attempting to overcome tragedy after tragedy. The Mon Calamari race was subjected to slavery (Admiral Ackbar served as Grand Moff Tarkin's personal slave aboard the first Death Star), attacked by Emperor Palpatine after he reappeared in the galaxy, and finally believed to be obliterated by Sith Priestess Mumar Ali Kazar. Domino de Devastator had presented Mumar with a new Sovereign Super Star Destroyer (equipped with a superlaser similar to the Death Star's), and she took the vessel out on a maiden voyage. Her first action with this mighty vessel was to fly to a planet that she had believed to be Mon Calamari for a test firing of the weapon. Her Navigation personnel made an error, which was not entirely unimaginable, since the vessel was understaffed. Mon Calamari lives on, it flourishes in fact. Rebel Alliance propaganda has preserved the planet's well-being for the moment, but it is only a matter of time before the truth gets out. Mon Calamari is one of the largest providers of ships to the Rebel Alliance.

Myrkyr - The planet Myrkr is an isolated world that lies within the Borderland regions of space between the New Republic and the Empire. It has unique features, such as trees with a metal content so high that it blocks sensor sweeps, and several species of creatures. Among the most notable are the ysalamiri, which have the ability to push back the Force (effectively nullifying the Force), and the vornskr, which hunt using the Force as a beacon.
Originally a neutral planet and base for Talon Karrde's smuggling organization, the planet became Imperial domain when Grand Admiral Thrawn invaded in an attempt to capture Luke Skywalker. On the BZ however, Myrkr was rendered barren by order of the Emperor. The few uniquely Myrkrian life forms that exist elsewhere in the galaxy are few and spread out.

Nal Hutta - Nal Hutta is one of the primary planets settled by the Hutts after leaving their ancestral home of Varl. Nal Hutta and its moon, Nar Shaddaa, are located in the center of "Hutt Space" and receive a constant traffic of freight haulers, smugglers, and other galactic traders. The planet is ruled by a council of the eldest members of the "Clans of the Ancients," the oldest Hutt families. The world's population consists of nearly seven billion inhabitants, three billion of them Hutts.
In recent history, Nal Hutta and its moon have become a haven for smugglers, pirates, and criminals. A massive, radioactive gas cloud, containing the hidden planet Ganath, lies very close to Nal Hutta.

Niraun System - The location of an Imperial bastion created by Grand Admiral Thrawn. Nearly no one knows it exists; access to it is restricted to all but a chosen few. It is the focal point for galactic defenses beyond the Outer Rim.

Noquivzor - A pleasant world of treeless plains, gentle hills, and savannas of golden grasses. Animal life on the planet includes herds of horned wildernerfs, which are preyed upon by prides of taopari. Some three years after the Battle of Endor, Rogue Squadron was moved to a starfighter base on Noquivzor as their staging area for the attack on Borleias.  Noquivzor is now home to the base that serves as headquarters for the Rebel Alliance.

Ord Mantell - The planet of Ord Mantell is very similar in political alignment to Tatooine. It's citizens are mostly neutral, and while Ord Mantell does not favor the Empire, it nonetheless maintains good relations with it. Only slightly better than Nar Shaddaa, Ord Mantell is home to all sorts of bounty hunters, smugglers, and major underworld figures. Interesting characteristics about Ord Mantell are its' vast scrapyards, which accumulate damaged vehicles, spacecraft, and equipment from all over the galaxy and its' busy spaceport. It has twin moons.

Ord Pardron - Ord Pardron was the site of a major New Republic base and was used in a multi-pronged attack by Grand Admiral Thrawn. Due to this assault, the nearby planet of Ukio was captured, and the Ord Pardron base was severely damaged. With Thrawn's survival (and the downfall of the New Republic), the Alliance rebuilt this base in order to keep a military presence in the sector.

Ord Trasi - The location of a major group of Imperial shipyards, in addition to the facilities at Yaga Minor and Bilbringi. In the books of the Star Wars universe, the Ord Trasi shipyards were removed from the Empire's control by the New Republic, however with Thrawn's survival and the successive return of the Emperor, the planet had the tactical ability to repel the attack which would have taken it. As such, it continues to pump out ships for the Imperial war machine.

Sillesk - This is a planet in a system of the same name. A small mining colony was originally intended to be located here. An odd radiation emitted by the sun, however, disrupts both a ship's systems and the original plans for the colony. This coupled with the incredibly dense asteroid field immediately around the planet makes navigating the Sillesk system a hazard, and many ships have been caught in the radiation where their pilots died, making a small ship graveyard. Most ships there are fighters or freighters, but an entire Imperial Star Destroyer is also there, although retrieving it is such a danger no one has ever attempted it.
After repeated tries, however, a mining colony WAS established on the planet. It's been found that one of the metals (called Sillestine) in high quantity in the asteroid belt blocks the disrupting radiation inside the belt, protecting Sillesk from it's effects. A small defense station is located inside the asteroid field that not only assists in the defense of the planet, but is also the only way in; ships wishing to get to the planet must make a hyperjump inside the asteroid field. When the systems on the ship fail (bringing the ship out of hyperspace inside the asteroid field but ionized) the station uses it's powerful modified tractor beams to catch the ship and pull it in for docking. A second, more heavily armed station exists at the safety edge of the radiation to aid departing ships.
A small mining operation to make use of the rich resources on both the planet and in the asteroid field has been established. The planet's resources are a tempting target for the Rebellion. The planet has recently become Imperial due to the actions of Admiral Rigel Bismarck (see fanfic Family Feud for more info about this). There are currently two Imperial garrisons there, one on the surface near the capital city of Drexxol and a second located underground at a secret location.

Tatooine - A desert planet in the system of the same name with two suns, Tatoo I and Tatoo II. This is the location where the Jedi Knight Ben Kenobi lived, and where Luke Skywalker was raised. As was seen in the movies, Tatooine is home to Jawas, Tusken Raiders with their Banthas, mosture farmers (such as Luke's Aunt and Uncle), and the various visiting scum. Two creatures of note on this planet are the Dewback, which is a large lizard that is useful as a beast of burden and for transportation, and the Krayt Dragon, a fierce predatory reptile that can grow many meters long and lives in the mountains surrounding Tatooine's Jundland Wastes. A few notable locations on Tatooine are Mos Eisely spaceport, Tosche Station, Anchorhead, and the Dune Sea. The gangster Jabba the Hutt once lived in the palace of the B'omar monks here.

Talus - One of the five habitable planets in the Corellian system, Talus is a blue, white and green world the same size as its sister planet Tralus,
and both orbit a common center of gravity (where Centerpoint Station is located). Together they are referred to as the Double Worlds, and both are ruled by the elected Federation of the Double Worlds, or Fed-Dub.
Like Corellia, a token Imperial garrison is stationed on Talus.

Ukio - This planet was taken prior to the battle at Bilbringi by Grand Admiral Thrawn. At the time it was extremely valuable, because it is a top producer of food products. In the mainstream Star Wars universe, Ukio threw off its oppressors once Grand Admiral Thrawn's ruse with cloaked ships was revealed. However, the timeline here is notably different. With the survival of Thrawn the Ukians have been too afraid to resist the Empire.

Wayland - The planet Wayland was originally discovered during the time of the Old Republic, however an error in the astrogation recordings prevented anyone from finding the ship that originally crash landed there. Years later, the Empire rediscovered the planet. The Emperor himself ordered the location stricken from Imperial records, and there he built a storehouse for prized possessions and unique technology. This storehouse was discovered years later by Grand Admiral Thrawn prior to his campaign against the Republic. There, Thrawn found (among other things) the design specifics for a cloaking device, an entire cloning facility in reasonable condition, and the Dark Jedi clone Joruus C'Baoth. During the Bilbringi attack, Rebel Forces managed to sneak into the Mount Tantiss location and destroy C'Baoth, as well as the cloning facility and the items remaining therein. The Imperial forces rallied, however, and drove the Rebels from the location, so Wayland remains in Imperial hands to this day.

Yaga Minor - The affiliation of this planet is unquestionably Imperial. Well inside the borders of the Empire during Thrawn's attack, the planet has seen neither hide nor hair of the Rebellion in decades. The population of the planet is overwhelmingly loyal to the Empire and mostly takes care of the handful of dissidents that show up from time to time on the planet themselves. An Imperial Ubiqtorate facility containing a copy of all Imperial records remains there, and access to it is heavily restricted. It was the site of the original Outbound Flight project. Yaga Minor is also the home of a major shipyard facility.
