The Seven Wonders of Swanson County

Cibola
The fabled estate of billionaire publisher C.V. Cameron sits on the banks of the Swan River in rural Swanson County. It was modeled after the Taj Mahal, and constructed in 1921 at a then-unheard-of cost of twenty million dollars. It is considered a prime example of early Swanson County architecture, and offers a glimpse of the Camerons' lavish lifestyle. Tours are conducted daily. High points of the tour are the indoor wading pool and Bubbles Cameron's extensive collection of Rubik's Cube puzzles. The estate is notoriously hard to find, but maps can be purchased at most Swanson County merchants. If you do get lost, local residents can be persuaded to give directions in return for a modest gratuity.

Hugo Gernsback Memorial Bride
This monumental statue of a woman wearing a wedding dress was erected in memory of C.V. Cameron's first wife Aurelia, who died in a tragic printing accident. It houses the Aurelia Cameron Museum, which displays rough drafts of Mrs. Cameron's love letters and the printing press in which she died. Enjoy the breathtaking view from the veil-level observation deck, help search for the Bride's missing garter, and dine at the revolving restaurant in the boquet.

SCVT-TV Station
The jewel in the Cameron media empire provides practical experience for student interns from the nearby Swanson county Vo-tech. Studio tours are available, so take the opportunity to meet SCVT-TV general manager General Manager (USAF-ret.). Visitors may be invited to participate as unpaid extras in any telecasts which are currently in production. German-Italian director Gertrud diLouzi and starlet Donna Mackenzie will be making personal appearances at the station during Swancon 2000.

Swanson County International Film Institute
Swancon 2000's film program will be hosted by the S.C.I.F.I., which has Swanson County's most extensive collection of movies, videotapes, pulp magazines, and memorabilia. Swancon attendees are invited to write their own customized film program and schedule screenings for individuals and groups. Serious scholars may apply for permits to conduct research in the Institute's collections.

Ditweiler's Egyptian Theater
Swanson County's premiere indoor venue was originally constructed for Bubbles Cameron's ill-fated mime debut. The plush theater has no sound system, making it an ideal location for screenings of silent movies. Current events include a series of lectures for the deaf presented in American Sign Language. Located in the Swanson Magna town square, just behind the equestrian statue of Col. Rutherford B. Swanson.

Swanson County Vo-tech
The county's leading educational establishment offers advanced degrees in film and video studies, applied science fiction, and filk harmonics. A new course in animal husbandry is being added, to be taught by visiting instructor Donna Mackenzie. Swanson County Vo-tech is a non-traditional school, with most courses being self-paced and self-graded.
