My Personal Art Library

Summary:

Below, you will find links to art that I have created over the past years. None of the art you will find was ever created professionally, in fact, much of the art was done in my high school classes while ignoring the teacher. A few of the pictures are actually drawn on the backs of homework assignments that, needless to say, were never turned in.

As you will find with the library I have accumulated here I happen to prefer pencil and paper as an art medium. Part of the reason is because I find that only pencil and paper allow me to draw in as much detail as I like. I have embarked on a quest to move some of my art to computer graphics, but as of yet I don't have anything worth displaying.

I had entered this drawing in the Dixon May Fair and won 1st place I believe. It was an assignment in my high school art class. We were only supposed to draw shapes and their appropriate shadows and shading. I, of course, thought that was rather boring. (64K)

This was another one of my high school art assignments. We were supposed to pick a few items from a menagerie of junk and place them in an esthetically pleasing arrangement and draw them. Look at the side of the dixie cup. It was actually drawn much more detailed than the scan shows. (28K)

This one was drawn in college (Phoenix Institute of Technology for me!) Don't believe that I spent any time at my desk studying though :) You can tell how old this picture really is when you notice that the computer on his desk is an IBM XT with full height 5 1/4 floppy drives. (40K)

Here it is! My favorite drawing. It's been beaten up over the years (as you can see by the creases in the paper and miscellaneous tears) but nonetheless it still retains the qualities that make it my favorite. (110KB)

This drawing was done on regular ruled notebook paper (as you can see by the lines running through it and the three binder holes at the top) The resolution that I am presenting it in here does nothing for the fine detail of the drawing. When examining the original picture you can actually see exactly what the toys in the window are. (102KB)

This drawing was my first attempt at a "Color Graphic." The graphic was designed to be an elaborate border around a "Title." I'm displaying the graphic larger than it truly is for better viewing. You can see that the graphic lacks fine detail (The main reason why I have stuck with carbon #2 pencils over the years.) (89KB)

Last, but not least, this is my most recent drawing which was actually a simple activity at dinner time for me and my kids. I placed a large sketch pad sheet on each dinner setting and we all drew a picture during dinner. This was mine. (122KB)
