Bryony was born in the outskirts of Mossflower country, and not much about her family is known. Her parents must've abandoned her, because she was found at Redwall Abbey as a newborn. As a young maid, she grew up in the ways of the peaceful abbeybeasts, and learned to be a caring individual. Eventually, she decided to leave the abbey and return to Mossflower, where she constructed a small cottage by the riverbank. Some seasons back, she fell in love with a young male mouse, only a season or so older than she. The two were engaged to be married, and then as her fiance was off traveling, he was slain by marauders. This nearly destroyed Bryony, who hasn't been out much since.

I'm not trying to take credit for inventing this character in any way, because this is how she is in Outcast of Redwall, for the most part, except that she lives at the abbey and she doesn't become engaged to anyone.
