Kaela, (pronounced "Keela") was born in a small fishing village along the coast of the great water. Her father was captain of the village fleet, and very experienced in the ways of the fisherbeast. Her mother died during childbirth, and Kaela was lucky to have survived the ordeal. She grew up very poor, and never knew any kind of wealth. But she was always happy, and she learned to make up for what she lacked in material possessions with a vivid imagination. Her father referred to her as "Kee" or "Keely" when she was young, but her grandmother, who lived with them always referred to her as "Kaela". Kaela found herself in Mossflower during her 12th season or so, after overfishing had forced her village to migrate westward.
