The Science of the Paranormal

Remote Vewing and Channeling

I include remote Viewing and Channeling under the same heading because the principles and techniques involved are amazingly similar.

As we know the government had been using Remote Viewing for military and spying purposes and despite the public criticisim, it was successful enough to be used at least as a supplementry source of information, and also to warrant its continued use after the initial experiments had been conducted.

Of course the effectiveness remote viewving was "downplayed" and the agencies that have been using it, have since claimed that they no longer employ the technique any more---At least since it received negative publicity in the press and congressional criticisim, but odds are, the government is STILL using it, only they are more secretive about it.

Remote viewing is best described as the ability of an observer to apparently "detach" a part of his "conciousness" and have it "travel" to a location, often many miles away from the observer's body. This is similar to what is called "astral projection", where the "soul" alledgedly detaches from its physical body and can travel to remote points of the world and take in the sights, but there is a difference. In Astral Projection, The person is usually aware of being in a "soul body" and is aware of leaving the physical body and "traveling" to other locations. The remote veiwer, on the other hand, seems to be using his MIND to "tune into" different locations. The mind has a pecular relationship to time and space, and it even has been suggested, in some quarters, that time and space, as we perceive it, might actually be constructs of the mind itself. But whatever the case the mind DOES appear to be able to View distant locations.

Channeling is, in one sense, the reverse of Remote viewing. In remote viewing, the subject is actively gathering information into his mind, while in Channeling the subject passively "opens up" his mind and permits another "entity" to input the information. The process of Channeling used to be called "Mediumship". A "Medium" is a person in who can "go into a trance and then is, susposedly, able to let a discarnate "spirit" inhabit his physical body. This "spirit" could then be spoken to and could respond using the vocal appratus of physical body of the medium. Mediums or Channels as they are called today, are, often used to communicate with the "dead" or can " channell" "higher spirit entities" to obtain advice in various feilds or knowledge of the future. Most so called "Psychics" are channels. The greatest such channell of modern times was Edgar Cayce.(D 1945) who channeled spiritual and medical advice and made several prophetic statements that have come true in recent years.

There are two kinds of Channels, the "trance" channeler and the "concious" channeler. The trance Channeler is a particularly "gifted" individual who can go into an "unconcious" state and then let a "spirit entity" take over his body--or at least the vocal mechanisim. The Trance channeler has no memory of what was said or what went on when in this state. Cayce was a "trance channeler". The other type of channel is a "concious" channel. The Concious channel is, as the designation implies, Concious and aware of his surroundings as he obtains information, susposedly, from a "spiritual" source or entity. The concious channel can also remember the "session". The concious channel, however, is a bit more prone to error than a trance channeler.

How To Do Remote Veiwing

Suprizingly, there are simple "tricks" that allows most people to be able to Remote View and, as we shall see, the same technique also works for Concious channeling. The few people who have a "natural gift" for such things simply have, unconciously, discovered these tricks for themselves. Of course there is also a degree of difference in "brain " structure in the gifted individuals that may give them certian advantages, but a concious application of these techniques and practice can make up for most short commings that an "average: person may have in these areas.

In the brain is an "information conduit" along which our thoughts and conciousness "flow". It may be thought of as a "bundle of telephone lines" that carry information. The reason that most people are not "psychic", that is not have a remote veiving or channeling ability, is that the "Psychic signal" is TOO WIDE for the brain's information conduit to handle. If part of the "Psychic"signal can't get through, then NONE of the signal gets through. The brain's "information conduit" was not designed to handle such a signal. In order to access the "psychic" signal the channel must be made wider, If not physically, then effectively so.

How do we make the "conduit" effectively wider? the answer is simple, we temporarally "shut down" certian brain functions and, in effect, "free up" more circut space so that the brain's conduit can handle the wider signal. This is done quite easily by NOT USING a part of the brain when one attempts to Remote veiw or channel.. In order to do this however, one needs to work with an assisstant. This assistant is usually called a "monitor"

The key to it all is to remember the simple phrase "DO NOT JUDGE", that is do NOT question any of the information you obtain during Remote veiwing or channeling, no matter how unlikely or "crazy" it may sound. And Secondly, one must let the monitor ask all of the questions. This attitude effectively frees up the part of the brain that formulates questions and makes judgements. It seems that this portion of the brain is one of the easiest to surpress when engaged in "psychic" activities. (The "Trance channeler" shuts down certian brain functions assoiated with "conciousness", the principle of not using a part of the brain is the same, however)

You will notice that when your monitor asks a question an "answer" will seemingly "drop" into your head and seem to "unfold", thus imparting a "Knowledge" of the answer that you must verbally describe yourself. Interestingly, enough, DURRING the process, you may ask your monitor to ask YOU a certian question.---So long as you YOU confine your statement to the "declaritive" mode. You may say something like "ask me what is behind the door" or "tell me to look in the cave"---(-Note that you are not actually asking a question.) You will get an answer when your assisstant asks you the question. The point here is the conduit will remain "open" so long as you do not directly ask the questions yourself and use the part of the brain that is needed to carry the "psychic" signal. asking a question and receiving the "psychic" signal at the same time is incompatible.

So knowing the above principle we can "Remote View". You must lay down or be seated comfortabally. relax for a few seconds and close your eyes. Have your monitor ask you to "visit" a place that you have never been to before and, remembering not to judge the info, describe what you see. If you are having diffuculties seeing certian details, tell your monitor to question you about it, as soon as he asks the question an answer will come. Yes, at first the answers will be, for the most part, "garbage" but DON'T judge it as so durring the session, the "conduit" often has to be "cleaned" or "unclogged". As the session progresses, the info will be more accurate. With practice, the sessions will yeild more and more good data.

Dont put yourself to the "test" at first, that is don't run out immediately and "verify" what you have seen.-----As the first attempts contain a fair degree of "bad data", knowing you are in error might blow your confidence---Which is needed for the process to work correctly. If you must know, let others check for you--and then after you have had a little practice.---You will be plesantly suprized.

How to Channel

For concious Channeling, the technique is identical. Your monitor asks you the questions and you interpret the answers. As far as it being "spirit guides" feeding you the answers,--- you can ask who the "entity" is.

As a "channel" you may communicate with the dead, "read" "past lives" and make predictions. and do much of the other stuff attributed to "psychics", although You might be more "successful" in only one or two of these areas.

It works best when you do not use questions with a simple "Yes/No" answer. Also it is not a good idea to ask questions that you have an emotional stake in--That is, if you might prefer a certian answer to a specific question, you can never be sure if the response was "wishful thinking" on your part or the actual correct answer. Even in an attempt to "supress" wishful thinking, you run the risk of dismissing the favorable response --even if it is correct--This is the "psychic's delimma"---the best way to avoid it is to choose your questions carefully.

There is another peculiarity about the responsed to questions obtained by Remote viewing, Channeling and other so called "Psychic" means. Numbers, and Proper nouns (those that begin with a capital letter) do not come through. Also one will find that writen text , seen in "visions" is usually unreadable--although the text may be clear--it seems to "jump around" and "mix up"--similar to what Dyslexic individuals describe. These factors tend to indicate that the "Psychic sense", or whatever it is is a "Right brain" activity.

There are tricks to get around these "Right brain" limitations of the system--to some extent. Trying to see individual numeric digits or alphabetical letters as a "design" rather rather than a symbol seems to help. One may be able to peice together short texts and numeric sequences in this manner, but it takes practice--This is probibally the hardest part of developing a psychic skill--getting around the "right brain".
