Working to Add Text into a Cell

Now that the document has a layout structure we may begin adding elements into the cells. Web pages may contain numerous elements such as text, images, links, video, and animations. Let’s begin by adding some text into the lower right cell.

There are numerous methods to add text. You can type or copy and paste from other locations such as documents created by software applications like Microsoft Word and Adobe PageMaker. You can enter text, format, and or re-format it in many ways after it has been entered.

To enter text into a cell, first click in the cell area you wish to select and then type in an introduction line.
Ex:

Then open Microsoft Word and type a few lines into a new document in order to try copying and pasting the text into the cell. Highlight the newly created text in Microsoft Word and then click on the Copy button that is four icons to the right of the Printer button.

Now close Word and use the Tab key on your keyboard to move the cursor down from your introduction line, click Edit on top of the Dreamweaver toolbar, and then select Paste to import the text into the cell. Or you may simply use your mouse click to copy and paste from Microsoft Word into Dreamweaver. Save your work by clicking File, and then click Save As.

The Save As dialogue box will automatically display showing the root folder and its contents. Notice that a Notes folder has also automatically been created by Dreamweaver to contain the design notes we have been attaching to pages in the site.

All your HTML documents for this site will be stored in this root folder. Most often, the Homepage for a Web site is named index. The Dreamweaver software automatically looks for this file name when it builds the site map, (the hierarchical structure of the Web pages of the Web site) and performs other program maintenance activities.

Type index in the file name box of the displayed dialogue box and then click Save. The title bar at the top of the document window will now display the file name along with the default extension the file has been saved in htm.
