To whom it may concern,

My name is Sonia and I am a senior at the University of Central Florida currently completing a degree in English with a concentration in Technical Writing. During my educational career, I have held a variety of positions that have helped me both fund my studies as well as progress my education.

Most recently, I worked for Valencia Community College as a member of a federally funded grant known as the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (G.E.A.R.-U.P.) for students of Osceola County. As the program assistant, I was assigned various assignments that helped me in gaining a broad office and technological experience as well as experience developing various forms for presenting educational subjects and materials that trained students, faculty, and staff. Many of these experiences were workshops conducted both in person and online, primarily to promote the use of technology in the classroom.

In addition to my part-time work, I have been a full time student at UCF for the past three years with an above average academia. I have taken quite a number of classes ranging from advance writing concepts and design to reporting and analysis. At one point, before deciding to become a Technical writer, I was pursuing a degree in Engineering and Computer sciences. Furthermore, I have studied a variety of concepts ranging from networking to programming and scripting languages. Since the growing economic market of today revolves around both information and technology, I believe my short period in this field is an essential part my studies, making me an asset for your company.

I have acquired a variety of computer skills working and training on various Windows operating systems (version ’95-XP) and am able to learn new applications rapidly. I frequently use desktop publishing tools such as Microsoft Office, Macromedia suite, Adobe, Photoshop, and other such programs.

In closing, I want to emphasis my strong desire to excel and succeed. I enjoy maintaining a high standard of quality, determination in completing tasks on time, and am very attentive to detail. I am personable, diplomatic, hold a strong work ethic, and highly enjoy collaborating creative ideas with others. I know it is difficult for my resume to convey not only my qualifications and skills but my character as well. I am confident I can contribute a great deal to your company given the chance and hope to prove myself in the long run. If it is possible to set up an appointment to meet with you and discuss this possibility of working for your company, please feel free to contact me at at the address above or email me.

Sincerely,

Sonia R. Pearanda Mena
