Poetry

I'm really not that great at writing poetry, but I enjoy doing it sometimes.
This first poem is one I recently wrote while thinking about something that
was suppose to happen in my life and never did.

Also, you can click  here and check out my friend Elsa's Poetry page for more poems
written by Elsa, her cousin Lisa (who's also a student/ friend of mine) and me.

As I sit here now
dreaming of the way things should be
I feel so sad
because it's not the way things are
Today was to be the day
the day that I'd hold you in my arms
I would have held you
and never let you go
I would have kissed you on the cheek
and told you that I love you so

Slow dancing
while romantic Glenn Miller music plays in the background
Our hearts would have been as one
But you're now far away
Your love for me is no more
I never got to hold your hand
I never got to see you smile

So here I sit
sad and lonely
My eyes fill with tears
like the love that once filled my heart
I'll love you forever
Whether we're together or apart

This next poem was written by a very close friend of mine, Elsa Stanczak.
She's one of my best guitar students and she's VERY talented! She's sent
me several wonderful poems but this was the first one she ever sent me.
Despite what you say, Elsa, I think it's great!!!

Dew

Dew on the trees,
Falling into the seas,
Dew in the air,
The fragrance stays there,
The dampness and coolness,
Surrounds me with stillness,
Dew on the leaves,
Helps me relax,
It has a certain beauty that shines along the lands,
That lays upon the sands,
That closes out the harsh demands,
Across the glass I watch it flow,
Dripping onto the earth,
Take a breath and my heart sinks,
Close my eyes and take a leap,
Will the dew catch me?
Or will I descend?
The thought I'd fall,
Makes my flesh crawl,
So I wonder,
Might the dew catch me as it falls into the seas?
And lift me up onto a gentle breeze?

These next two poems were written by a cyber friend of mine, Rachel Lee.
To people who are familiar with Caption This, she's also known as SpydieGirl.
Recently, she sent me a couple of her poems and they were very good and I
asked her if I could post them on my page and she was nice enough to let me.
So, big thank yous go out to her! Also, you can click  hereto check out her web
page and more things that she's written!

The Mirror 3/3/99
There is a shop downtown with a great big window.
Passersby see their reflections at they walk.

A girl stops in front of the window, alone.
She admires herself--how beautiful she looks!--and goes on.

Some children pass by, and notice the reflection.
They make faces, pleased with their new toys--and remain for some time.

A doctor glances at the window on his way.
He notices he had forgotten to remove his ID--and keeps walking.

A prostitute walks by, on her way somewhere.
She pauses, checks her gaudy makeup and clothes, and goes on.

A homeless man wonders by the window.
He has nothing to offer his reflection, so he walks on.

The window remains the same, yet different to everyone.
The mirror is nothing to itself...what good is it?

Orange
Which word rhymes with "orange"? I can't
Think of one within this rant.
The morning sun is orange, it's true,
But later has a yellow hue.
An orange is orange all the time,
But with it nothing else will rhyme.
Perhaps there's not another word.
Then these lines would be absurd.
Or maybe I've not found it yet;
But no one I have ever met
Knows of a word that rhymes with "orange"...
I guess my poem is done.

There's more to come so check back soon!
