Rock 'N' Roll Music

Although at the moment, my love is Jazz and Swing
music, I'll always be a rock fan at heart. Listed here
are a few of my favorite bands and links to pages
dedicated to them.

My all-time favorite band is The Beatles. To me, no band ever in the history of
rock music has done what the Beatles did. To study their music is like a
lesson in Music Theory because they seemed to use every aspect of music
in their music. And plus, any band that can re-invent itself as much
as the Beatles did and still churn out such fabulous music is amazing!

This is my #1, all-time favorite album ever, the Beatles' "Rubber Soul"
album. If you've never heard it, do yourself a favor and buy it!

You can say whatever you want about Nirvana, but in my opinion,
they did almost as much for music in the early 1990's as the Beatles
did in the 1960's. My personal favorite Nirvana CD is "Bleach".

Jimi Hendrix is my all-time favorite rock guitar player. But the thing
that so many people forget about Jimi is that he really wrong some
very beautiful songs.

For a prime example of Jimi's songwriting skills, I highly recommend
picking up a copy of his 1968 album "Axis, Bold as Love" (pictured above).

This is  PJ Harvey. She's my favorite songwriter. Her
newest CD is called "Is This Desire?" But, in my opinion,
her best CD is, by far, "Dry".

PJ's "Dry" CD is right up there with The Beatles' "Rubber Soul",
in my opinion.

I've been a fan of Garbage since I first heard "Vow" back in 1995.
Recently, I've really gotten into them again, mostly because my
friend Elsa is so into them. They're a great band! The coolest thing
about them to me is that under all the techno drum beats and keyboard
parts, they write really good songs! You can also click here for another
great Garbage page or check out Elsa's page for more cool pictures!
Thanks to her for letting me steal a couple of them!

I saw Tori Amos play live at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis, MO in
June of 1996. The place was sold out and me and my friends had
front row seats. She was positively mind blowing! I highly
recommend her "Little Earthquakes" CD. It's great!

I saw Smashing Pumpkins play live back in 1994. They were
great! Billy Corgan seems to have mellowed some in his older
age but if you wanna hear them at their rockin' best, you must
get a copy of their first CD, "Gish". The picture I used of
them is from their "Gish" era.

In my opinion,  R.E.M. is one of the classiest bands in music.
Sure, they're a little too political at times, but who cares?
Their music is what really counts! Some of my favorite songs
by them include, "So. Central Rain", "Radio Free Europe",
"Fall On Me", "Man on the Moon" and "Everybody Hurts".
It's WAY too hard for me to pick one of their CDs as their
"best". They're all good in their own ways!

Like R.E.M., U2 puts a lot of class into their music. To me,
their songs are powerful and emotional. Some of my favorite
CDs by them are, "War", "The Joshua Tree" and "Achtung Baby".
