Space Quest 7 News and information.
In 1995, Sierra On-Line decided to continue the classic Space Quest series when they created Space Quest 6: The Spinal Frontier. SQ6 was recieved into the computer game industry with open arms. The game sold many copies and was a huge successor to the series. In 1997, Sierra recieved countless E-mails and letters begging for another Space Quest game. Many of the SQ developers were very surprised by all the fan reaction the series got, so in mid 1997 Sierra started production of Space Quest 7. Sierra then decided to make another Space Quest Collection. Bad choice. Although the collection featured Space Quest games 1-6 and a Space Quest 7 preview, the game sold terribly. It was marketed down to $19.95 in a couple months. So on December 31, 1997 (the last day of the year) Sierra On-Line put Space Quest 7 on hold indefinitely due to lack of fan support. Give me a break. In other words, they cancelled it. After this sudden move by Sierra, thousands of SQ fans have been writing E-mails and signing petitions, etc. Even a letter writing campaign was formed. So this is where I leave you. It is your job to Save Space Quest 7 also. Don't let Sierra form into a shoot em' up killer games industry. Help revive the adventure game, Save Space Quest 7!
