"TYR and BEYOND Part I"
a DS PbeM GAME by Fabian Benavente
ORIGINAL POST TO FIND PLAYERS
DARK SUN
It’s the year of the Desert’s Fury in the 190th King’s Age, but most people from Tyr call it Free Year 11. With the advent of the great earthquake, a series of problems has plagued the city, which the Tyrian Council of Advisers has yet to bring under control. The natural disasters have turned a significant portion of the population into frightened mobs. Natural disasters aside, other changes happening in the world have inspired panic of other sorts. Currently hordes of monsters, frightened out of the mountains by continuing tremors, flood the valley in search of stable ground. All in all, a ripe time for a group of individuals to try and make a lasting change and have their names praised in King’s Ages to come.
Greetings fellow roleplayers and welcome to Dark Sun. A bit about myself, I’ve been playing AD&D for over 15 years and have loved DS for about 5 years. I am currently involved in 3 other PbeM games and this is the first PbeM that I will DM. I am an avid amateur writer which is one of the reasons why these games appeal to me so much.
I am looking for 4 to 5 beginning characters (3rd level for DS). The game will not be first come first serve and we will take time to develop characters for it. It will have action as well as problem solving and my idea is to turn it into a campaign. The format will be about two turn recaps per week and I will do all the dice rolling (a PbeM game is slow enough already). There is no webpage for the game at the moment but I am working on that as well. I am looking for roleplayers whose turn replies are not a one sentence reply. Remember that I am here to be entertained just as much as you.
If this sounds like a game for you, then send me a character (name, race, class) with the following sections: a) appearance (what other people see when looking at you, physical characteristics, clothing, items, etc.), b) history (where your character comes from, what has he done, how he acquired his skills, etc.), c) personality (what he likes to do, his fears, his manners, his favorite sayings, etc.). Please make the characters interesting, I do not want to end up DMing a group of mul gladiators who are dull and quiet; you don’t have to send clowns either.
Please tell me a bit about yourself, your interest for PbeM and DS and your experience in DS including what commercial modules you have been exposed to. If this has interested you, then please get your characters in. I will reply to everyone who has taken the time and put in effort into their submittals. Ladies this is not a male only game and so you are more than welcome to join.
Have fun and keep gaming.
Fabian
DISCLAIMER:
I am running an original Dark Sun Campaign, unfortunately the first adventure that I chose to run is not original. It is the adventure that comes with the 2nd Edition Dark Sun Box, "Mystery of the Ancients". I have changed the adventure somewhat but it still has a lot of the original material in it. If you plan on playing this adventure, you may not want to read the turns.
I welcome all comments, suggestions, and/or questions. Please email me.
