Welcome to Blaze
the Sun Conure's Page
Blaze is a Sun Conure his latin name is Aratinga solstitialis and his race originally comes from South America. The range of the Sun is northeast Brazil in states of Roraima, northern Amazonas, Para and possibly also Amapa ; Guyana, Surinam, French Guiana and extreme southeast Venezuela. This species is closely related to the Macaw family and his latin name Aratinga means Little Macaw.
These parrots are very cheerful, silly and cuddly once settled in your home. They are very friendly and happy go lucky. They have a fairly loud flock call, and once they get a answer from you they quiet down.
This should be a consideration when thinking of purchasing a conure from the Aratinga family,, they are all in various degrees a louder bird than say the Senegal Parrot.
I find Blaze is only loud when I come home, he gets very excited and happy and at that time he can get pretty loud. Once I greet him and give him a bit of cuddling and greetings, he quiets right down. These guys will talk with time, and I have gotten many differing opinions on their potential vocabularies. Blaze was hatched in October 5th, 1999, and so far he will say "step up" very clearly. He is fairly young to I think he will probably be a good talker as he matures.
He is a total sweetie, and he makes me laugh alot. He does this very silly thing where he will climb up on top of my head, and grab my hair with both feet, then he flaps his wings as hard and fast as he can, slapping me in the face with both wings, and then he starts to make this hilarious chuckling noise, and I just loose it into gales of laughter every time.
Watta nut!!!
