To protect his family, FBI profiler Frank Black leaves the bureau and moves his wife, Catherine, and daughter, Jordan, from Washington, DC back to his hometown of Seattle. Frank is approached by a mysterious and powerful organisation known as 'The Millennium Group', a team of ex-law enforcement personnel working to fight the force of evil that strengthens as we approach the millennium, trying to find some order in the chaos. On a week-to-week basis, Millennium revolves around the life of Frank, as he battles his demons, both personal and real. Millennium is currently in its second season. There were 22 first season episodes, and 23 second season episodes. The show has been renewed for a third season and my guess is we'll see another 22-23 episodes then...Here in Belgium they have shown but the first 14 episodes....come on fruits, give us more !!!! The first season of Millennium dealt predominately with cases involving the hunting of serial killers. This received a mixed reception from the fans so the second season is mainly about the millennium-group and Frank's personal life..etc... Both Millennium and The X-Files are produced and based on original ideas by Chris Carter, and both shows have made use of the same crew. They also deal with similar storylines. Recent connections include the crossover of the Jose Chung character (from the X-Files episode Jose Chung's From Outer Space) in Jose Chung's Doomsday Defense. Hey Chris, what about a Millennium/X-FILES crossover ??? Carter: "I don't rule it out, if the right story came along. I think it is possible in the future, maybe when the ratings are really low. [laughs]" In "Lamentation", Frank returned to the Behavioural Science Unit at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. As he was talking to Peter Watts on some stairs outside the Unit's offices, two figures that seemed to have an uncanny resemblance to Fox Mulder and Dana Scully were seen walking down the stairs behind him. It is clear that the actors who played these characters, in this scene, were not David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson but nevertheless, it seems probable that this was inserted as either a joke [as some fans have suggested], or as a confirmation that the two worlds [Millennium and The X-Files] co-exist. The snake image used in the opening title sequence of Millennium (which is biting it's own tail) is called an Ouroborus. It is the smybol of the Millennium Group. The Ouroboros lays at the edge of Pontus, the sea which surrounds the world. Surrounding the Universe, everything known and unknown is encompassed in the Ouroboros. It is first seen as early as 1600 years BC in Egypt. From there it moved to the Phonecians and then to the Greeks, who called it the Ouroboros, which means "Tail Eater". It is a symbol of the unending cycle of the universe. Some cultures see the image as a dragon rather than a snake, others as evil, or Satan. In Chris Carter's own words: "The snake biting its own tail is called the Ouroboros. It has a lot of symbolism. It symbolizes the conflict of life devouring itself so it means both good and bad things. It's very pertinent to the show. It's a very powerful symbol, and I think appropriate to the show." The third season of Millennium will bring many changes. Morgan and Wong have left, and most likely Darin Morgan will follow his brothers footsteps and cease writing for FOX. This means that both MM and The X-Files will be seeking new writing talent for next year (get those pens on paper now). As for changes in the show itself, nothing concrete yet, but this has been circulating amongst Millennium/FOX-related editorials: "Chris Carter's low-rated Millennium managed to avoid being canceled, remaining in its Friday night spot. [Fox spokesperson] Roth says the show will undergo major changes, moving from "the dreary Pacific Northwest" to Washington, D.C. and adding two new young FBIers to the cast." But don't let us go watchin' too far ahead....I'm talking 'bout the third season here and I still haven't completely watched season one.......Come back for more later...... (13/06) OK, allright, so the screwheads at fox have cancelled Millennium. So that means no more fourth season ?? I guess not, due to the massive fan-response they got on their decission, it seems that millennium will continue in a 6 episode mini-season. For more info go here
