Here is a clever idea for how to overcome any troubles experienced when attaching the kneeplate to the shin, using a sewing fastening hook! This idea was the braincild of a wonderful Japanese friend of mine, Akira Iwase.
A view of how the hook fits onto the shin pieces. So simple and yet so effective! Good thinking, Akira!
Here is a pic of the armour as it was when I first unpacked it. It gives you a rough idea of what's involved in the assembly of the kit. Believe me - it's easier than it looks!! I loved assembling the armour, and look forward to my next project - Boba Fett! Check out the links page for more info' on that one...
Another view of the unassembled armour, showing the back pieces.
A side view of the same, but giving you a different view of the detailing that the armour has - truly brilliant!
Undoubtedly the most important piece of the whole kit. This is where paying careful attention to the instructions is critical. You do NOT want to botch this one! Having said that, assembling the helmet isn't that difficult. Just as long as patience is exercised.
A peek inside the helmet shows my liner and padding configuration. Since I made this, the armour now comes supplied with a hard-hat helmet liner. Definitely a good idea!
One of the best finds I've made recently! I found a cobbler that lives about 3 minutes from me. He was most helpful and did a brilliant job. I've worn these for about 4 hours (at the E1 premiere) without sitting down and my feet were great. Happy, happy, joy, joy!
A back view of the boots. A shame about the quality of the pics - they don't do them justice. But that will change soon when I get my next toy - a digital camera. Make sure you come back soon for some updates! :)
