Two armies face each other
on opposite ends of a peaceful town
Someone fires the first shot
and then the bodies start falling down
The battle rages on for hours
and innocent citizens cower in fear
for there is a horrible battle
destroying everything they held dear
One side retreats to fight another day
and the other cheers at the news
It's a victory for one side....
or did both sides really lose?
The battle goes down in history
and is written about many times
There's books, paintings and games,
and even a movie at primetime
But while everyone is pondering
if it was a strategic or tactical win,
doesn't anyone think about the people
and wounds which would never mend?
Doesn't anyone think about the sad mothers,
and all the girls with broken hearts,
the lives that were destroyed,
and the families who were torn apart?
No, everyone's interested in the military aspect
Studying the civilians' lives is such a bore
Oh, God help the innocent bystanders
who are caught in civil wars!
