The Mothership Has Landed (Or Impressions of Modern Art)
By Elizabeta

the mothership has landed.

triangular shapes, tentacles hanging out of
saucer-shaped tripods
dark empty eyes stare out at you
from another world
molecular chains on charts
accompanied by
extraterrestrial writing
ships floating around
like atomic particles
space food, liquidated vegetables
bizarre containers filled with strange foods
like stringy little pods in a can
their cities are filled with strange buildings
glowing orbs Aztec and Egyptian style pyramids
strange shapes on the wall holographic
images floating around like balloons
brine filled jars filled with
who-knows-what
the saucers shoot out heat waves
from their tops and bottoms
like whales
space age weapons from the stars
I look out the window
see the galaxy stars and planets
bursts of light lasers zapping from
small little ships a space dog fight in action
earth far away on a map of the galaxy
marked with a big target
their primary weapons of destruction
are locked and loaded inching slowly
towards their destination - earth
they go on with their plans like robots
each one does his duty, talks to the other
talks up a storm small talk
I'm trapped here a scientific experiment
a semi-normal college student they are
keeping me here
they were tired of abducting freaks
that fill the classrooms, that teach the classes
that pester me that make me wish I could
just disappear and get my tuition money back
