Career

While I am currently enrolled at Highline Community College, I am also working part-time as an office assistant. My goal at Highine is to graduate with an AAS in the Administrative Assistant Program. I will graduate with an AAS in the Administrative Assistant Program, and an AAS in Word Processing, in the fall of 1999. I feel this will enable me to find a decent paying position, while still being able to continue my education and advance in my position within a company, or be able to move on to a higher paying job. I will also take a night class in the near future to aquire my certification in Bookeeping. With all of this accomplished I hope to find a position with a company that supports Continuing Education.

Being a single-mom of two children Continuing Education is extremely important to me. I need to make a wage that will not only support myself, but also my family. Having the opportunity to continue going to school while working, will not only benefit the company I am working for, by providing me with more skills, but also will also benefit my family in the long run.

My long term career goals are to get as much education as I can, and advance in job positions until "I" am satisfied. I need to have a job that will allow me freedom to take care of my families needs and have a life outside of work too. There are so many "careers" I hear about people having, that literally take over their lives and leave no time for the enjoyment of living...that is not what I call a successful career.
