UNICORNS

Unicorns are rarely seen by the human eye. Why? Because only those that really, truly believe in them can see them. The horn of a unicorn was often prized by many in the medieval times. It was said to be an aphrodisiac (sp), as well as have many healing properties.A bleeding wound touched by a unicorn's horn would stop bleeding. A famous legend is that of the Lady of the Unicorn. She lived alone with only a white unicorn that she rode. Her suitor was a brave warrior who had a lion which was with him at all times. The unicorn was often related to oranges, for both were thought to bring fertility. It also stood for a maiden's pureness. Another legend of the unicorn is that it guards a special fountain and pool. In which gather magical waters that all animals drink from. Once a serpent poisoned the waters, but the horn of the unicorn removed the poison. The unicorn and serpent are enemies. The unicorn was also thought to keep evil spirits away.
