About the Graphics & About "Triggering"

The webite's "graphic" presentation is not intended to look like a generic self injury page, a mental health net clinic, nor a recovery site that suggests everything is OK, when it is not. The site was originnally inspired by the website "Cuttors by Razor".

It's graphic appearance is the REALITY of SI presented to the public from the shocking "closet-case" point of view. In fact, how many self injurers have actually "come out", until very recently?

I have surfed many sites that are by far more graphic and even stomach wrenching. Much of the descriptive language used in self injury personal storys tends to be quite "graphic" as well.

In May 1998, upon the release of "Cutting by X-Acto", the website was surveyed. There was a 98.7% positive response to it. I had my own concerns over it's shocking appearance. Again in September, upon the release of the "Scarred graphics", I surveyed again and results were up by 1%, (99.7% positive). A small minority emailed me with contraversial concerns. However, after a mere explaination as to why the page appears as it does, even with a graphic depiction of the reality of self injury, I actually won their support before the day was over!

Many self injurers have already done the world a great service by creating webs and pages that express their feelings of survivorship. I commend these poeple for having the guts to take this responsibility upon themselves.

Nothing in the world compares to the "voice of experience".

I am not a doctor or a social worker, but I do have an extensive formal education in Biology, (Psych minor), and significant work history in Environmental wet chemistry. I taught college Microbiology nights and moonlighted as a graphics printer. I strickly connect to the self injurous world through my own "voice of experience" and I take a very strong stand here.

If you truly have problems with pages that look like mine, you do not belong here and I feel you have amply *warned.
