Updates

This section will no longer be updated: Primarily because I doubt there will be any interesting POTA news for quite sometime now considering how they already made a movie recently. Although they could easily make a sequel. I am merely keeping this section around for nostagalic reasons. If there is any riveting POTA news though, I will update this area.

May 11th 2001: The Planet of the Apes movies is finally going to come out. Its release is slated for this summer of 2001. After all the rumors they're finally make it. Tim Burton will be directing. Mark Walberg is the astronaut. Tim Roth will be play an evil ape general. Charlton Heston will of course make a cameo. From what I've seen the Ape costumes will be fantastic. The ape faces are very indivualistic and incredibly detailed. The advance posters and banners have already been hung up at theatres as you know. I am really excited about the movie. I think Burton will do a good job directing. Walberg can act as seen in Three Kings. So I'm anxiously awaiting the release as I'm sure you are also.

August 4th 3:00 am: Tim Roth may be cast as the ape slave trader with sympathies for humans in Burton's new movie.

Friday June 30 (probably): Permament plans seem to have been set for the new POTA movie. Mark Walberg will play the Taylor-like part formerly played by Charlton Heston. Tim Burton is directing or producing. Mark Walberg is the actor from Three Kings and The Perfect Storm. I feel this was a pretty good choice for the lead role. The story from what has been rumoured will be quite different from the original POTA. Keep your eyes open for reports on Entertainment Tonite and stuff like that for updates. I recently saw a mention of it on MTV news.

Monday June: Tim Burton wrote something up regarding POTA at the movie database at www.imdb.com .

Thursday June: The most recent possible director for the POTA remake people have been talking about is Tim Burton. I think he would make a good director because he would be able to take POTA in a new direction maybe, and I think the movie would look pretty cool also. I hope something concrete forms this time, but I'm not holding my breath.

Friday 4/14/00: As far as I know there hasn't been any large action in the Planet of the Apes world. There are always rumours about who will direct the next pota movie one week "oh its Oliver Stone" next weeks its "gee I hope John Bay will direct the next POTA well". They've been talking about a movie for a long time. I'll belive it when I see the previews. I'm sure there have been some cheesy, overpriced, and probably poorly made products since I lasted updated this thing. To tell the truth I don't really care, if I hear about anything interesting I'll try to report it. The only ape stuff I think is worth buying are all the movies and the movie posters.

Thrusday 7/?/99:The word on the grapevine says that Inkworks the company that made Planet of the Apes Card Archives 1 card set will also be making a new card series about the POTA TV series.Cards are slated to come out sometime next year. Sunday 7/11/99: According to the Forbidden Zone site, there might still be a Planet of the Apes movie in the works. We're gonna make the movie, we're not gonna make the movie, I just wish they would make up there minds on this. Anyway the current news is that Oliver Stone will produce. They want Arnold Schwanager to be the main character. It seems that it will not be a remake movie but a different plot. Allegedly the movie is supposed to come out around 2001. This hopeful news, but this ape fan isn't holding his breath.

Friday 7/02/99: The second series of 12 inch POTA action figures (the series with Heston, Ape Slave, and Dr. Zira)is aviable at Diamond Comics

Saturday 6/27/99: If you interested in buying the Planet of the Apes action figures, you can get them at Toys R Us for around Five dollars. I'd hurry because if they're selling them for that cheap, it probably means they won't be buying any more figures than they already have.

Same day as above:There is a different line of Planet of the Apes figures do out. This line though will be seven inches tall. I don't know what figures they plan on making in this line. The line should be aviable sometime this summer. There is also a POTA video game due to come out around 2000.

5/14/99: It doesn't look like there will be a new Planet of the Apes movie. I've heard no gossip about it recently. Some say that making another ape movie would be stupid because there aren't many places you can go from where the timeline is now. Others argue that many recent remakes have been pretty crappy and what would make a POTA movie any different. I would have like to see any sort of POTA flick they came out with, its been a while since any movies have been made. I also think the movie wouldn't necessary have to cost that much. There are also plenty of spaces where you could put another sequel into. Like sometime after Battle for POTA.No matter what anybody think it looks like a long while before there is another glimer of hope of a movie being made.
