The Super Sonic Project

So far we've got one Section up. But there'll be more soon.

Scientific Mobius

What scientific logic is behind Sonic running so fast? Beyond the shoes and the Power Rings; just how does he do it? Well, I may have found the answer:
Now, here's an example to the point I intend to make; consider sea worms, gastropods, mollusks, and other marine life forms. They have an amazingly fast reaction rate. Polyps, when subjected to stimuli, will jump back into their calcified tubes quicker than the eye can accurately record. This extremely quick reaction speed is due to very thick nervous tissue and cords. So, it's assumed that Sonic may have been born with abnormally thick nervous tissue. However, how is this plausible? Comparing invertabrate marine life to an evolved bipedal mammal is like comparing the sun to a notepad, right? Well, not really. See, it has been scientifically proven that as an embryo develops it seems to go through the entire process of evolution in under one gestation period. At an early development even human embryos have fish gills and tails, which, over the progression of the fetus, become vestigal and eventually recessive. So, we still have marine life ancestry in our blood. Besides, that's not really the basis for over-sized nerves; it could just be the cause of an abnormally large amount of specific hormones and enzymes assimilating with the epithelial layer of the epiblast, which is where the nervous system is formed in the embryo. Therefore, it's a hormonal imbalance in the mother that would cause this benign and beneficient defect in the offspring; giving the impression that drugs may have had something to do with it, cause only drugs could cause such an imbalance in the endocrine system.
Therefore, it is safe to say that Sonic's abnormal speed is due to thick nerve tissue caused by a hormonal imbalance while he was still a fetus. As for Sonic's metabolism; well all that running and exerting of force requires a lot of Adenosine TriPhosphate (ATP), which is the bodies chemical energy. So Sonic would need to eat quite a large quantity of food (specifically proteins and carbohydrates) to acquire the amount of energy he needs to run, which I'm sure he does.
