Later, Rosie and Bova were exchanging words. They talked about Davenport and her wanting to go home. They both knew she was incredibly homesick.
"What do you think is wrong?" Bova asked.
"I don't know," Rosie answered. "Maybe she doesn't trust Suzee anymore. I wouldn't."
"You sure?" Bova asked. "I kinda feel bad for her. I never thought I'd say that, but I do. I really do."
"Well, maybe the problem isn't just Suzee," Rosie said. "Maybe we're the problem."
"What did we do?" Bova asked.
"Maybe getting her blasted halfway across the galaxy," Rosie said. "Maybe its just bothering her now."
"But why now? After four years?"
"I don't know, Bova. It isn 't my call."
Bova didn't know what to respond to that. He just left and went back to the command post. Rosie sighed.
In Davenport's bunkroom, Suzee came in and sat down next to Davenport.
"Miss Davenport?"
Davenport jumped. "Oh, Suzee," she said. "You scared me."
"Sorry. I just came to see how you were doing...." Suzee said.
"You know, its not your fault. You didn't know it would upset me."
"I would have if you have told me what was wrong."
"Ok, ok," Davenport said. "I'll talk. Just promise me you won't tell anyone."
"Promise," Suzee said.
"Eighteen years ago tomorrow, I- uh, had a daughter-"
"Daughter?"
"Yes," she said. "She's eighteen tomorrow. And I'm not going to be there to say happy birthday."
"Oh...." Suzee said. She sat down next to Davenport. "You have a daughter? Why didn't you tell anyone?"
"I don't know. I miss her so much."
"I bet she thinks you're dead."
"I know it," Davenport said. "I just wish I could talk to her and my husband."
"You know, there is a way," Suzee said.
"How?" Davenport asked.
"I know how to commicate with people," Suzee said. "I can make myself into a hologram. I've visited Cat a lot."
"How many times?"
"Sixteen."
"Wow."
"You know, I could make you into a hologram if you wanted to."
"You would do that for me?"
"Of course!"
"Let's go!"
That was how Davenport left the Christa.
