UFO Sighted Over SF Bay Area?

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -
What was that light in the sky? More than a dozen
people who saw a bluish-white light streak over the San Francisco Bay
Tuesday evening were left asking that question.
Radio station KCBS
received about 15 calls at 9:45 pm moments after the object was spotted
whizzing over the bay before reportedly breaking into two or three
pieces and disappearing from sight.
"It was about 200 feet up in the air when it finally fell apart. It was
arcing just a little bit," said Sid Marcovich, who saw the object while
driving along the Embarcadero waterfront.
A Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman had no reports of airborne
oddities int he area, and the National Weather Service received no calls
reporting the light.
But witnesses like Marcovich remained stunned at what they said they
saw. "I had never seen anything like that in my entire life. It was big
and it was close. It was exciting," said Marcovich.

Original Report
I received the report last night at 1:45 AM (E), and being awoken by the
call may have not been clear enough when I sent out the report. The
caller, Jennifer is from Idaho. What she claims is, a reliable witness
reported the event to her practically in real time. Already people are
focusing on Jennifer's 208 Idaho area code, perhaps thinking some sort
of deception. There is no deception. In the original post:
"...confirm from a reliable eye-witness" "The caller's witness..."
Sorry if I was not obvious enough that the caller is reporting this to
me second hand. Also, I should have said "Jennifer is from Idaho and the
witness is from California."
I have changed the date of the alleged crash to 8-4-98, as it was at
9:45 PM, Pacific time and I got the date mixed up. I'm sure you
understand...Please direct any further inquiries to Jennifer Lipshin. I
warned her people would call and contact her if she went public. Perhaps
she can coax the eye witness into coming forward.
