True or False?

As you turn the corner, you stand before two wrought iron doors. Before each of the doors snickers a gangly goblin, clutching a shieldlike device emblazoned with the familiar symbols of common playing card. You start as faces poke from beneath the sheild's bottom as well. Their bescaled faces seem a cross between a dog, a fish and a seal. Red and blue armor seems dingy and dirty as it hangs on what of them you can see.

What're you guys? The Olsen twins gone bad?

All four faces blink blankly at you, before confuring among themselves, whispering loudly and snickering. You only catch a few of their words.

...What...Olsen...? Go on with......speal...? Oiye dun't know....what d'you think? Dun't ask...... me.... ask 'im! What're you askin' me for? Oiye dun't know! Well 'e SHOULD know. Should what? Know! No! no?

Akwardly you wait for them to finish their conversation. After a mere second, the four chime brightly.

Go on! Try one of the doors!

Oh, ok... you're supposed to do go through? Ok...

Which one?

The lot bursts into uproarous laughter, slapping their hands against the shield as they guffaw.

Well 'e's bloody daft isn't 'e? We're not as stupid as you look! What'd ye think this is, a garden party? You hafta guess ye know. Go on, choose a door!

Not incredibly nice fellows are they? Oh well, the sooner you pick the better. But, you are determined NOT to be pressured into a stupid choice.

Where do they go?

Where'd they go?

Dun't ask us, we're just the guards.

All four heads chortled in unison, as the blue one remarked insolently, Dun't ask 'im... 'e always lies!

Lie! You great looney! Oiye du not lie! You lie! Oooo what a LIE! An upside down head put in cheerily.

Wait... you've heard this riddle before! One must tell the truth, and one must lie right? A HA! You think proudly.

Ah, I understand.... so YOU lie, and YOU tell the truth! You deduce, stabbing a finger at each in turn. All the faces of the mettlesome creatures look curious.

Oh! 'E's a smart one 'e is! A bloomin' Albert Enstien! One of them shook its head and stage whispered to the nearest. 'E couldn't get through 'ere either.

No longer as sure as you were before you look both over carefully. Only one route to go now...confusion. With a grin, you stalk up to the red guard, poking his sheild.

Now, if I were lying when I said I think that you think that the blue guard on the bottom is telling the lies, and then I asked you if should I come back tomorrow and inquire if the top blue fellow is telling the truth what would you tell me?

Well THAT ought to fix their little red wagon! Try that on for size! You think grinning from ear to ear. The guards look puzzled as hell, glancing to each other for a long moment and mouthing words you can't quite make out. Finally they answer.

Yes.

Pretending to know what the hell you just said, you trudge forward and pick a door.

Pick the Red Guard's Door
