Genesis 6

    Things always Get worse before they get better.  Humanity did not want to leave their home, but if you mess too long in your own kennel, it becomes unlivable.  As the face of the planet became overcrowded, a few too many billion people were making more waste than earth could handle.  Combined with a few sloppy Nukes going off were they shouldn't have, it was time to go.  Global warming was threatening the ice caps.

    In 2007, Professer Charles Marcum bought the world some time by cooling the poles.  The Japaneese launched Ark I to Mars a year Later, to do surveys to prepare for colonization.  By the time it returned, in 2009, the first Sucessful Gate tests were completed.  2011 saw the instantanous transport to Mars through gates.  Slower crafts were still used due to the timing needed to operate a gate, and the vast energy requirements.  Dr. Hiro Kasagama was able to create a device which could 'refine' gravity to One G within a reasonable range, making any place that was big enough for a generating station habitable.  A 3 kilometer generating station is required, as well as a huge wall like ring around the area.  However, on a planet, it works very well.

    By 2015, the Colony on Mars was ready for Civilians to start heading out.  They were transported in order of necessicty to the new colony.  In order to raise capital for this huge venture, Japanese Citizenship became something a person could buy.  With the only sure method to save the world with Colonization, Gate Technology, and Contra-gravity, the incredible clout allowed Japan to become the only Veto member in the UN security council, in agreement to help evacute the rest of the planet.  The UN became the United Worlds, and is very much lead by Japan.

    The Americans were the most reluctant to leave home.  They used what they had learned from Nasa's International Space Station to build Ameri-Station One and Ameristation two.  Many Canadains stayed with there American Cousins.  The Orbiting stations circle the planet, attempting to reclaim it from it's destitution.  The UW tries to help, but the personal it sends to the Reclimation Effort usually don't want to be there, and view it as a punishment and disgrace.  In 2031, Ameristation One Failed, and had to be evacuated.  Ameristation two took in the refugees, and expanded using floating space junk.  It's not pretty to look at, but it is better than living planetside.

    A great number of Colonies have sprung up.  There locations and histories will be posted as I design them.  A popluation explosion occured after Aids was defeated.  Pan-Immunity, the first sucessful nano-bots, travel through the system, destroying foriegn disease cells.  The bots are not fooled by the HIV virus, and have destroyed the epidemic.
