APPEARANCES

All Generation X issues are listed, even the ones Skin does not appear in (#19, 23, 24, 27, 62), all other appearances are listed in order as they appear in continuity. Most cameos where Skin is not actually present are not shown (with exceptions like X-Men #36).

This is divided into sections. Skin's first appearance through Generation X #31 are on this page, and Generation X #32 through #62 on page 2, non- continuity appearances can be found on page 3!

Another good listing of Skin's appearances, along with those of just about every other Marvel character, can be found at The Marvel Chronology Project!

Phalanx Convent: Generation Next Part 3, waking up after her capture by Harvest, Paige Guthrie finds herself covered in what she first believed to be a blanket, only to discover it to be the distended skin of fellow mutant, Angelo Espinosa. The young mutants escaped thanks to the ingenuity of Monet St. Croix (in reality, the Twins).

X-Men (Vol. 2) #37

October 1994 - on back cover (gray skin, gray hair). Phalanx Convent: Generation Next Part 4 (final part), the young mutants fighting for freedom are aided by former X-Man, Banshee, former Hellfire member, Emma Frost, and captured villain Sabertooth, along with fellow teenage mutants, Jubilee and Synch. Clarice Ferguson apparently perishes using her "blinking" powers to defeat the Phalanx, both she and Harvest disappear.

Uncanny X-Men #318

November, 1994 - Skin agrees to join Generation X, first time he's shown "dripping" (gray skin, brown hair, blue eyes). With the threat of the Phalanx gone, Angelo decides he'd had his fill of the X-Men, and just wanted to take the first flight out of there. While the kids and their future teachers take a breather before officially starting classes, Angelo and the Beast have a chat about what it means to be a mutant in a harsh world. After the Beast agrees to let Angelo wallow in his own misery (even giving Angelo his car), Angelo reluctantly decides to attend classes with the rest of Generation X. The Massachusetts Academy is renamed the Xavier School For Gifted Youngsters.

Generation X #1

November, 1994 - cover appearance, first time the kids are called "Generation X" (gray skin, brown hair). It's the first day of class for the gifted youngsters of the newly named Generation X, some students adjust better then others. Emma Frost the White Queen arranges for Angelo, now Skin to face Synch one-on-one, causing a mass of tangled skin, bruised egos, and no clear winner. While Skin, Husk, M and the White Queen stay behind, Banshee takes Jubilee and Synch to welcome new student Jonothon Starsmore later called Chamber. The welcoming is interrupted when the villainous Emplate makes his debut and nearly defeats the heroes, until the enigmatic Gateway sends in the rest of Generation X to the rescue. After Emplate disappears and the gang returns home, they discover Gateway left them a gift, the young mutant called Penance.

Generation X #2

December, 1994 - cover appearance, first time Skin and Husk are shown becoming good friends, first time Skin shows the ability to assume a more normal (and less wrinkled) appearance, first time Angelo is referred to as "Skin" (grayish-natural skin, grayish-black hair). Penance goes berserk, and Generation X tries to calm her down, failing miserably.

Generation X #3

January, 1995- (grayish-natural colored skin, black hair, brown eyes). Generation X continues it's poorly carried out attempt to apprehend the berserk Penance, until Chamber simply calms her down by extending his hand in friendship, Husk is left badly wounded.

Generation X #4

February, 1995 - cover appearance, first time Skin's power-related migraines are mentioned (gray skin, brown hair). The gang travel to Faybrook, Maine, to investigate a reported mutant. Although they run into Orphan Maker, also after the rumored mutant, the troubled kid is revealed to never have been a mutant, despite his appearance and the townspeople's fears. Meanwhile on the other side of the world, the X-Men fail to stop Xavier's insane son Legion, who succeeds in altering reality (this isn't shown in the book, but the next 4 issues take place during the Age of Apocalypse, see the non-continuity appearances at the bottom of this page).

Generation X #5

July, 1995 - cover appearance, first appearance of Skin's unnamed former friend from the L.A. gangs, and the first hints of Skin's darker past, powers used to break car window and to pull Jubilee up the side of a building (natural skin, brown hair, blank eyes). The X-Men finally succeeded in saving reality, but word of the Legacy Virus has now reached the public (this happened in X-Men: Prime). Husk doesn't take the news well, and is comforted by Chamber. While in New York, Jubilee, Synch, M and Skin try to save the White Queen who had been captured by Gene Nation. Before the battle, Skin runs into an old "friend", whom he tells to keep his presence a secret.

Generation X #6

August, 1995 - (gray skin, brown hair, blank eyes). Skin, Synch and Jubilee, save Artie, and try to save the White Queen, although she frees herself (at the expense of poor Leech). Before they can escape, the Dark Beast (manipulating events from behind the scenes) sets of bombs, and M snaps out of a "trance" just in time to help. The gang travels to the Xavier Institute to officially induct Artie and Leech into the Academy. Synch, Jubilee and M dress in appropriate X-Men threads, while Skin options to dress more casual (probably not wanting to look goofy in spandex). Emma consults with Xavier, and Jubilee visits her old pal Wolvie, while back at the school, a hung-over Husk kisses a shocked Chamber, who accidentally blows up the girls dorm.

Uncanny X-Men #325

October, 1995 - (gray skin, brown hair, brown eyes). (Since the kids are still at the mansion, and not yet at Cassidy Keep [see Gen X #8], this story seems set prior to Gen X #7) Skin, M, Jubilee (and probably Synch) remain at the mansion for a little rest and relaxation, and the cross-team baseball game (attended by members of Gen X, X-Force, and of course, the X-Men)., Banshee comes over to umpire the game (and presumably to tell the Emma and the kids about the girls dorm), M and Jubilee join Bishops team, while Skin sticks with X-founders Cyclops and Jean Gray. Wolverine slowly grows more accustomed to people again (being more sociable then he was in Gen X #6, but not as much as Wolverine #94). The happy-go-lucky game is interrupted as Colossus makes a surprise visit to warn the X-Men about Gene Nation's attacks in the New York subway. The X-Men leave the game to battle. Storm battles Marrow to the death (but hey, it's Marvel, so death isn't permanent).

Wolverine #94

October, 1995 - cover appearance (gray skin, brown hair, light or blank eyes). As the force's of Cable's son Tyler/Genesis conspire against Wolverine, the ole' Canucklehead makes good on a promise to visit his old partner Jubilee and guest teach Generation X. Logan trains the kids on fighting maneuvers in the Bio-Sphere (that doesn't yet have a tree-house in it [see Gen X #7]). First Logan squares off against Skin, one-on-one. Skin counters Wolverine's strike quickly, but still fails to stop Wolverine from tagging him, despite failure, Logan thinks Skin has some potential. Next, as Wolverine prepares to square off-against the whole team, he stops, sensing an evil presence in the Bio-Sphere, and cancels the session. That night, Skin was up getting a mid- night snack when he noticed Wolverine sneaking through the campus. Skin then snuck into Jubilee's room to wake her up, to see if she knew what was going on. The two of them followed Wolverine to the Bio-Sphere, where he faced off against a spiritual token inhabiting the school, and apparently scares it off.

Generation X #7

September, 1995 - cover appearance (gray skin, brown hair, light eyes). Emma accidentally invades Banshee's dreams since she is forced to share quarters with him, while the girls are staying at her place (after Chamber destroyed the girls dorm). Chamber and Husk discuss the events of the other night, while Skin and Synch secretly build a tree-house in the Bio-Sphere for Leech and Artie. Later, Banshee receives new that his ancestral home, Cassidy Keep, has disappeared.

Generation X #8

October, 1995 - (gray skin, brown hair, light-brown eyes). Generation X #9

November, 1995 - (gray skin, brown hair, brown eyes). Skin valiantly battles the Dragon, a bully of the land, to keep him busy while Chamber and M repair the broken Glamour Machine. Although Skin fights hard against the Dragon, it's only with Penance's help that the beast is subdued. The gang gather in the castle and return with it to reality.

Uncanny X-Men Annual ‘95

November, 1995 - (gray skin, brown hair, black eyes). The kids basketball gang is interrupted by the blasting Cannonball, as he comes to visit his sister Husk. Husk leaves with her brother, Bishop, Storm, and Wolverine to investigate her wayward sister Joelle. They save her from a Trask-backed (as in, with Sentinel technology) anti-mutant commune that she had joined.

Generation X Annual ‘95

Cordelia Frost makes a surprise visit to her sister Emma to get her help in "rescuing" the young mutant she herself captured, the Samoan known only as the fun-loving Mondo. Second Story: (gray skin, brown hair, brown eyes) Skin helps M move all of the girls stuff from Emma's quarters to the Science building. Skin tries to "warm up" to M, make friends, but to with no real success. Generation X #11

January, 1996 - (gray skin, gray hair, gray eyes). Chamber faces off against Omega Red (and actually wins!), while Emma walks through Banshee's memories. Skin was beat up by Red in between issues, and missed all of the action. At the end, when everyone is back to health, and Omega Red fled in defeat, Skin decides to lighten the mood by tossing a pillow at Jubilee's head. Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic Emplate conspires with a former girlfriend of Chamber's to go after the gang.

Generation X: San Diego Comic-Con Ashcan

October (?), 1994 - (gray skin, brown hair, gray eyes). (Promotional comic for the 1994 San Diego Comic Convention, reprinted in X-Men: Rarities) The gang plays a game of volleyball with Banshee, which goes great (except for the fact that Chamber is his old anti-social self) until Mondo "catches" the ball, by absorbing it into his head, and shooting it out his stomach (now that's a mutant power for ya) and shot it into Skin. Angry, Skin stormed out. Jubilee writes a letter to Wolverine about the days events, and describes each member of the team to him.

May, 1996 - first time Skin was shown using technology on his own, first (and only) time he uses the screen name "BEE HLDR" (gray skin, gray hair, light eyes). Emplate may be gone, but his influence had corrupted Synch. Synch attacks his home town of St. Louis, and the girls of Gen X go to stop him. At home in Massachusetts, Skin surfs the net using the screen name "BEE HLDR" until he's interrupted by his ailing friend Chamber, who hasn't been himself since he first met the villain in X-Men #49

Generation X #16

June 1996 - (gray skin, black hair, light eyes). The girls and their teachers succeed in reigning Synch in, while at the school, Skin tries to help his friend Chamber, still really from his encounter with Onslaught. When a young man named Chevy comes to the door looking for work, Skin "hires" him, but tells him to come back later, not wanting anyone to see Chamber like this (Chevy is a long forgotten plot point first introduced in X-Men: Prime, and forgotten after only a few appearances). Trying to help Chamber anyway he can, Skin drives him towards the Xavier Institute, in hopes that the X-Men will know what to do, unfortunately, he is stopped on the way by the X-Cutioner, intent on punishing Skin for the murder of Angelo Espinosa!

And, on the road toward Westchester, Skin and Chamber have stowed beneath a big rig and Skin has to steal some Kentucky Fried Chicken to keep himself fed.

Generation X #19

September, 1996 - Skin and Chamber do not appear in this issue (although there is a picture of them on the first page), the rest of the issue involves Emma's struggle with herself, and the kid's fight against the Toad. An evil "version" of Mondo is apparently killed, and Howard and the younger kids escape thanks to the help of Man-Thing (continued in the Daydreamers mini-series). Jubilee is captured by the evil Bastion, and Penance stops Black Tom. Skin, and the rest of the gang make a brief appearance on the last page, stranded in the middle of the Pacific.
