Joining the Ring

Who can Join info ~ Frequently Asked Questions ~ Ring logos and the html code

Who can join

  • Anyone who has a homepage hosting Videogame fanfiction (either yours or of other authors). Fanfictions can be novels, poetry or any form of literature on any videogame.
  • Sites with one or two fanfictions or sites that are not videogame exclusive will not be rejected but I would prefer sites with a proper fanfiction section, better still sites dedicated to fanfiction.
  • Add the html fragment in your page. I cannot stress this enough: Not only this is what makes the ring work but it also tells me your entry was not a fake submission.
Note: The default html/java code sent to you automatically is unacceptable. Please find the CORRECT code at the bottom of this page.

So, once you fit all of the above requirements, visit The hub page (sorry about it, Yahoo's shitty procedure) and click the grey button about Joining the ring. That should do it...

You can also join the ring's mailing list, whether you're a ring member or simply a fanfic enthusiast. A regular newsletter is distributed in this list with the updates of individual sites.

To join the mailing list send e-mail to sapfarah-subscribe@eGroups.com.
This list is to distribute the ring's newsletter, where members (only) may send their updates.
Newsletter editor is Jennifer Torres

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: With so many sites (indeed!) won't mine be as good as lost?
A: Not at all. With the new searchability of the ring's list, provided you give sufficient description and keywords when you submit your site, visitors who look for what you have will find you. Therefore, it's up to you.

Q: I have a story (stories) but not a homepage. What do I do?
A: Many of the sites in the ring accept submissions. You can contact one or more of those sites and ask them if they will post your story. Alternatively, you may create your own homepage. It is very easy.
If you have trouble editing fanfiction to be sent, you may find the Tips for new writers section helpful.
Note: The Videogame Fanfiction World does NOT accept fanfic submissions

Q: What about adult stories?
A: The fanfiction world does not prohibit the entry of sites containing adult stories, however: Sites containing ONLY adult stories (m/m, f/f, lemon, slash, sexually descriptive stories) are NOT accepted.
If your site contains such stories, whether you are part of the ring or not, you should mention it clearly to protect sensitive readers.

Q: I have fanfiction on a PC game. What about me?
A: By all means, feel free to. Wether the game you write about is an arcade game, a platform game or a PC based game, you are welcome to join.

Q: I write about a non so popular game but my stories are good. Is that a problem?
A: Nope, not at all. Maybe that's your chance to make your favorite game known!

Q: I have fanfiction based on a movie/anime around a videogame. Can I join?
A: Hmmmm... It is videogame, therefore yes, you are elligible to join but... your site better be good.
If your site ONLY contains fanfiction on anime or movies, tv series, card games then don't even bother.
The Videogame Fanfiction Webring is solely for fanfiction on videogames. Perhaps that's why it is called the videogame fanfiction ring...

Q: I don't like the ring's logo. Can I use another one?
A: Certainly. Below you can find images made by ring members and friends of the ring, or you can use any image of your own choice. Use whichever matches your site best. Also, if you have designed a logo, you can share it with the rest of the ring!

Q: Webring sent me an e-mail with some funny html as a ring code. Is that the one to use?
A: NO! A thousand times no, this is HEINOUS! To be precise, Yahoo!Webring sent that to you and it sucks. As the ring master, I do not like this code, I shall not accept it. Sorry folks.

Html code for the ring

This piece of html should be on your site if you want to remain in the ring.
New Members: I need to see this somewhere on your site BEFORE I let you into the ring!

The code

  • Similarly, replace -YourEmail- and -YourName- with your e-mail and your name.
  • Use a different logo if you wish

Existing Ring members: If you have forgotten your site's ID number, you can find it from the List of sites. Place the cursor over the link to your site and the number should show on the status bar. Do NOT ask me to write the code for you, those times are long gone by.

The code should look like this:
