Music

When I was studying the Russian language, my teacher introduced me to a wonderful little instrument called a "nose flute". It's a little curved piece of plastic that you hold against your nose and you vary the notes by shaping your mouth in various ways. Great for teaching folks to pay attention to what their palate and tongue are doing. I looked about on the new and, lo, I found a couple of places that sell them.

          Lark In The Morning

Sells Musical Instruments of various sorts, books, recordings and videos. They have a whole page of woodwind instruments, including the nose flute.
          John's Music
Has a lot of inexpensive "stocking stuffers".

Buying music on the net is a great way to save money and time. Unless the album you want is on sale at your local store, you can probably get it cheaper on the net, even after shipping charges.

          Pentagon CDs and Tapes

This CD sales company has the best prices I've been able to find. I checked this year's hits and last year's, as well as some oldies, and in most cases their prices were $1 or more below the others'. The only place it loses ground is in shipping of more than a couple CDs, since CD Now has a max shipping charge of $5. Warning: the site is ghastly slow.
          Wal-Mart
This is a pretty good place to shop, what with shipping being only $3, no matter how much you put in your shopping cart.
          CD Now
This is a wonderful company which provides an "album advisor". Just tell them who three of your favorite artists are and they'll recommend other albums. Marvelously accurate. Shipping is $5 max.
          Music World
Has a "lowest price" guarantee, will match any price on the internet and give an extra 50% off if their prices are not "the best on the internet". This is a bogus claim: their prices aren't as good as Pentagon's or CD-Now's, except in a few cases (most notably in the import area). I have sent them email calling them on this fact; we'll see what comes of it.
          Musicmaker
An interesting site which allows you to create your own CDs, one song at a time. Prices are very reasonable, but there aren't any of the real popular artists offered. A great deal if you like the artists they offer.
          Simply Music
Can search for a song from lists posted by a particular radio station, or a list of "top" hits
          Music Previews
Listen to previews of what's hot.
