Get Weird!

Help
Weirdsville! Web Radio can be heard with the RealAudio Realplayer®, which now comes as a plug-in with Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. If your browser does not have a RealPlayer® associated with it, you can download it for free from www.real.com. Detailed help about specific RealAudio problems can be found on the RealNetworks Support Page.

To listen to the Webcast, click on the Weirdsville! logo above. This will automatically open your installed RealPlayer® and download the one of the current playlists. Although we are not broadcasting live (due to time and life constraints), we do have several playlists running simultaneously, with new cuts and lists uploaded daily. You can scroll through the playlist by clicking the button to the right of the "Playlist" window on your RealPlayer®, but you won't know what the cut will be until you actually choose it!

ERROR MESSAGES: Occasionally you might get error messages when trying to connect to the webcast, after the RealPlayer® has popped up. A common message is "Currently AutoUpdate has no plug-in available to play your selection". This usually occurs when the server hosting the audio files is down or having problems. The best rule of thumb is to close the open RealPlayer® and try the link a second time. If the message pops up again, try back in a while. We at Weirdsville check the site several times a day to make sure things are up and running, and any problems are usually solved within a few hours.

Why mono? Though RealAudio now has quality stereo capabilities, we have chose to stick with the smaller mono files. Since not everyone has super-fast internet connections or modems, our experiments showed that mono streams better and cuts down on the dreaded net congestion. We'd rather sacrifice a little bit of sound quality to let the music flow as smooth as possible, plus most of our cuts were originally recorded in mono anyway.

WEIRDSVILLE THEME - Our theme song, Weirdsville by George Ross and The Red Tops, requires the RealAudio plug-in to display the controls correctly. To listen to this immortal cut, click the play button on the left side of the controls. There are also Stop, Pause, and Volume controls. If you play the theme while listening to Webcast, it will override the webcast RealPlayer.
