Adventure 1:  "The road to Parlainth.   But wait aren't we only first circle?  Who cares, the pays good isn't it!?!?"

 

Damien, Gar and Frey decide to begin their first quest by joining a caravan to a Parlainth.  Most of their journey went by without any incident.  That is until they reached the open plains and from the distance a cloud of dust emerged like a tidal wave.  Without much warning, Orc Scorchers viciously attacked the poor unsuspecting caravan.  Within seconds a fourth of the guards where killed.  After regaining their senses the trio tried their best to stem the tide of battle.  For what seemed like hours, minutes passed until finally the Orc Scorchers got what they wanted and left the caravan in ruins.  With only a handful of men left and three wagons, the caravan decided it would be best to return home.

Upon reaching the safety of a canyon, looking up into the air someone spotted a flying manticore.  Deciding it best to keep moving, the Manticore finally took notice of them and swooped down for dinner.  After much screaming and the fear of paralysis, they where left with only one wagon and two other men. 

Completely unnerved, they continued on the long trek back home that is until two wyverns who happened to hear the commotion from the maticore decide to see what was going on.  (you can still hear the words..."well, just don't roll a one." ed)  Gar and Damien both fell unconscious while Frey became paralyzed with fear as he watched the two wyvers come down for the easy kill.  Frey's last words where "bite me" as paralyzation took effect.  After an hour or so Gar and Damien wake up to find Frey's stubby legs left, a broken wagon and only one other survivor.

(side note- Gar received a fear of large winged creatures as a result of the encounters.  Gar now suffers a -4 step modifier upon seeing large winged creatures)

Finally making it back to Eagles Nest, explain their story to the person who hired them and decided to take a short break.

 

The Quest for the Sword

To speed things up a little and not bore you with the little things that happened along the way, the group decides to help a friend out by retrieving a sword that was lost by a friend of hers. The sword is in a run down keep that is now occupied by a vampire. Frey, Damien and Gar travel many miles to the keep. Along the way they meet two adventures, Gog (Troll Cavalryman and Player A- He died before we really got to know him)

Damien snuck up to keep and got a very bad feeling about it. So Gog decides to help the players by charging the keep’s doors with his Thundra beast. Shocked by the sudden charge, the players quickly mount their steeds, except for Damien and head for the door. With a tremendous blow Gog smashes the door and runs straight through the courtyard to the mansion’s doors. The other players try to keep up but Damien lags behind the group.

Upon reaching the doors Gog smashes through them, runs up the stairs and falls off as his thundra beast crashes through the wall and falls to the ground in the courtyard behind the building. By now, Damien reaches the middle of the courtyard just as zombies begin to rise from the ground. Frey stops his charge and turns around to help out his companion. Gar and Player A ignore their companions cry’s for help and proceed into the building.

To make things simple I will deal with what happened inside and then go outside.

Inside the building Gar and Player A dismount and proceed to walk inside. Suddenly two sets of armor come alive and hover towards them. The two manage to run around the armor and head up the stairs where Gog is. Finally regaining conscious Gog watches the drama unfold. It seems the armors are moving to the closest living person. Since the stairs split into two flights going up Gog moves up one while the other two go up another. When the armors pass Gog quickly moves into attack the armor. Unfortunately with little damage done to the armor. Running past the armors, the other two with Gar run back down the stairs and try to look for a way out. Finding a hallway they run down it hoping to get away from the armors.

Running down a long corridor with shadow images burnt into the wall they finally manage to reach a door. After opening the door they quickly run inside and discover that the room is a library. But the only way out is through a window. By now the armors catch up with them and they prepare to fight. This time they are successful and quickly destroy both sets of armor. Everything seemed ok, until Gar tosses a grenade out the window to blow open an exit. By now with all the noise and destruction they have awakened the vampire. The vampire teleports in front of them and begins his long winded speech. Gog, not in the mood to listening to a long speech attacks the vampire. The Vampire is not an ordinary vampire though. He has a very special technique of turning the person into a permanent shadow on his walls (there is more to it than that), which he uses on Gog. Gar quickly takes a grenade and charges the vampire. He figures he can sacrifice his life so Player A can live. What a bad choice, Player A is the same person who manages to get killed when any player gives up his/her life so he can live. After the explosion, the vampire is still alive and Player A runs out through the hole in the wall and into the courtyard. (more on him later)

Now lets go back to the other two.

Damien and Frey are now surrounded by countless horde of flesh eating zombies. They can not make it inside the mansion with the rest of the party, so they begin to hack and slash their way to safety. Suddenly overhead a large gargoyle appears and lands close by. Now the fear of God is in them and they decide to run away. Damien jumps on the Frey’s horse and they make a dash out. But Damien is so terrified by the encounter he reaches into Frey’s bag and takes out a grenade. The fool tosses it in the direction they are traveling and would have exploded just as they traveled over it if not for the fact that Damien forgot to activate it. Reaching down Damien grabs the grenade and manages to fall off the horse while doing it.

He gets up to his feet just as zombies surround him. This time he activates the grenade and just as he’s about to toss it a zombie hits his hand and the grenade falls at his feet (yes he rolled a one) Screaming, he tries to run away as the grenade explodes. Even though he is not a ground zero, the explosion knocks him off his feet and sends him flying into the keeps outer wall. Thus knocking him unconscious and bringing him to almost zero life. Frey picks him up as he leaves the keep and they ride far away into the woods waiting for their friends to come out.

Now back to Player A

By the time Frey and Damien leave, Player A runs out into the courtyard promptly meeting the gargoyle. Player A manages to get around the gargoyle but is finally subdued by the shear numbers against him and he is also killed.

Frey and Damien wait awhile and decide to head back when they realize their friends are not coming out.
