Are You Psychic?
-What is E.S.P.?
ESP stands for: Extra Sensory Perseption. It is like a sixth sence. ESP is a regroupement of some psychic powers (Clairvoyance, Telepathy, Divination, and in some cases, Telekinesis) The popular meaning is now using mental powers on objects, (ex: "telepathy usually works between two people. not with a playing card.) But ESP seems to work anyway, so I call ESP: "the power to know without knowing" (ex: In a poker game, you may KNOW someone is bluffing, or even guess what cards he is holding (or knowing how shure he is of his play), guessing lottery numbers...)
-So! Do I have ESP?
Shure! to some extent, we all have mental power, like we are all able to talk, or walk. But since you probably did never used it, you don't know its in you, and you probably don't know how to use it either.
-How Can I learn to use ESP?
Simple! I made three easy exercise that you can practice over and over, and as weeks passes, you will see some progress! But remember! Unless you ESP is REALLY powerfull, don't expect to be always right! When science tried to do experiments on ESP, they failed to proove that it was real because the subjects were not always right! They were beating statistics by a few points but not enough so science would recognise it as valid.
So Lets get ready for some exercises. You will need:
A Deck of NORMAL cards. (NO! Don't use Jyhad or Magic cards you fool)
Something to write with.
Something to write on. (Normally, What you'll use to write on, should be a surface that can be written on by the thing you use to write with. Don't use a chalk, and a paper towel, they don't match very well)
So now, take the Deck, and remove all figures, jokers & Aces. This is done in order to ease your perseption. See for yourself, you wont react the same way if you pick an ACE, or a THREE of SPADE. So in order to minimise confusion, remove them, so they won't affect you reactions while practicing. So all there should be left in your Deck, are the 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 of the four kinds. (you should have a total of 36 cards)
Test #1:
Ok. Take What is left of the Deck of cards, and shuffle it. Then, hold the deck face down so you don't see the cards. Now, the trick here is to correctly guess the cards' color.
Follow these easy steps:
Take the first card on the top.
Try to guess what color is the card you are holding.
If you think the card is Black, place it on the left.
If you think it is red, place it on the right.
Go to step 1, and so on until you passed all the cards.
When you are finished, check you score. Count up the number of Black cards on the left side, and the number of red cards on the right side. If you successfully listened to your instinct, you should have 18 cards on both sides. Otherwise, you may have some more cards on one side. That's not bad! If you have a majority of red cards on the red side, and black cards on the black side (more then 9) you beaten the 1/2 chance probability, but I suggest trying this exercise often, so you'll have a better idea. And if all red are on one side, and all black on the other, don't question yourself further! ... YOU MADE IT! This was a rather easy exercise since the probability were easy to beat.
Test #2:
This second exercise is a bit tougher. Take the SAME deck, Get 8 black cards of the same suit out, and a red one. You may dispose of the rest of the deck... Burn it or somethin'.
So you should hold a total of 9 cards: 8 black and 1 red. Shuffle them, and place them face down in 3x3 rows & columns. What you'll then have to do, is find the Red card. Now, when you are placing them, try to go as fast as you can, without thinking about the cards. (think about how white is the ceiling, how shiny is the table or how soft are your underwere) You should do this because while you are placing the cards and knowing that you'll have to find the red card, you will think of where can it be halfway done which WILL cause you to miss often. So if you deal quickly, and think of something else, you will have better results. Once finished, just take a wild guess, and pick the card that you think is red.
It is usually the FIRST card you though about that is the right one. You have to listen to your instinct. If you weren't concentrated enough when your instinct told you the card, you will probably miss. You can still try to guess again. Pick the card you've chosen. If you picked the Red card, congratulation! if you missed, try again, and again. Now, take your paper and write a table to keep your score. Write RED if you succeed and if you miss, write the card you picked. Try this many time, and check your rating. (success/total tries). I usually have a final score of 50%. The normal rating should be around 11% (1/9) so see for yourself. The reason why I suggest writing the missed card too is because in my case, the black card i got out was often the same. so if you see this happening, you can try to find this card instead of the red one.

Test #3:
Now this one is a hard one. Take the full deck (no Jokers) and shuffle it. You will have to guess the card's number, so do as described below:
Take the first card on the top.
Guess what Number is the card you are holding.
Turn it around to know if you were right.
If you succeded, place it on the left. If you failed, place it on the right.
Go to step 1, and so on until you passed all the cards.
Do this quickly, so the answer is spontaneous. Don't name the whole card, just the value (A,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,J,Q,K) I have not made any statistic board for this one, i just tried it and was suprised that it worked. If you want to make the exercise more difficult, try naming the whole card, and place in the middle, the card you almost got. So have fun playing with your brain now!
