The Diana Tregarde Investigations

Well, hola! About this aspect of Misty's writing, well, you'd notice that you won't really be able to find these books anywhere in the bookshops. Well, they were kinda out of publication. Why? You ask? Two things. One: According to Misty, they didn't sell. Wierd, but true! Two: People were getting a bit psycho over the books. Walking around saying that the Guardians were real, that Misty was a Guardian (SHEESH!), that there really were wierd people out there trying to control man-kind (much like Dr Evil in Austin Powers...hehe).
Bad things were beginning to happen, really wierd people sending death threats to Misty. If you wanna read about it, Misty wrote a leter concerning this and it can be found in Firebird's Homepage, under "Mercedes Lackey", "The Last Straw". Man, even I got mad!

About Diana Tregarde (the main character):

Hmm, that's all that is really really significant. Other than for the fact that she's on a crusade to make everyone she comes across aware of AIDS. Noble cause, sad reason. Lenny, her long-time friend and guide when she first moved to New York, contracted AIDS. That's sad.

Now for my favourite bit in DT books:

" 'Okay, here's my theory of Teenage Revolution. You know why we--human beings, I mean--start to fall apart when we hit forty?'
He shook his head.
'Because, evolutionarily speaking, we aren't meant to survive last beyond our reproductive years. I mean, that's what evolution really means--survival of the fittest means reproductive survival; the one that spawns the most wins, not the one that lives the longest. Nature favors quantity of life, not quality.'
Deke scratced his head. He'd never quite thought of it that way.
Di nodded, and smiled a little, as if she had heard his thoughts. 'So--given that, the best years for the human being to reproduce are in its youngest fertile years, so that you've got a chance to raise and teach the young. Basically, in these days of improved nutrtion, that's thirteen to twenty-four, or so. Which means, kiddo, that right now your hormones are screaming at you to get out there, establish a territory of your own, grab you some wimmen, and raise you some babies. Like, now. Lots of wimmen, and lots of babies. Have you figured out what that means to you, personally?'
'Uh--' he replied brightly.
"

That's that!
