All in the Family was a sitcom originally aired on CBS in 1971, and was produced by Noman Lear. The show consisted of four primary characters: Gloria Bunker Stivick, Mike Stivic(I.E. Meathead), Edith Bunker, and of course Archie Bunker himself. All in the Family was a well written sitcom and is respected for the pure thoughts of a typical blue collared, under educated, white male in the 1970's. Due to the fact that the 1970's were a time of political, social, and governmental unrest, we should not consider Archie as demeaning to races, but as a middle-aged, traditional, and conventional who had a difficult time changing with a changing society. Many people believe All in the Family was the evolution of a new mentality for the American people. At the end of The All in the Family series, new spinoffs were introduced. One of these, Archie's Place, brought out the good side of Archie and introduced new characters to the show as well.
