March 6th, 2003 This isn't an update exactly, I just watched the Birds of Prey series finale and had to comment. That episode had to be the funniest, corniest, most homoerotic subtext-y piece of work I've seen in a while. I assume the cast was aware at the time of filming that this was their last kick at the can, cuz it was every actor for herself on screen. It was highly entertaining watching them all vie for an 'Overacting Oscar', especially, Mia Sara-- if I'd been drinking milk, it definitely would've been shooting out of my nose during her screen time. For the majority of the show they do a decent job of keeping up the pretext of a coherent plot, but in the last 8 minutes, with the cue-up of Tatu's 'All the Things She Said', the descent into absurdity is complete. Dinah, whose role could have been filled by a cardboard cut-out for the previous 35 minutes, gets to go full on superhero-- complete with pleather pants and matching jacket. A surprising mobile Barbara also kicks her share of booty, and this is before everyone, including the ostensibly wheel-chair bound, develops the power to fly. Gun-toting Alfred, broom-toting Reese, and chest-beating Gibson only add to the hilarity. *sigh* This is what mediocre TV should strive for. If you can't produce a great show, then you might as well produce a so-bad-it's-good show. Anyway, just my thoughts. Sorry for the blather, but I'm working nights this week, and tend to rattle on about stuff when I'm overtired. Dacia January 23nd, 2003 What's that? Why yes. Hell has frozen over. It's called Perhaps, and it's just a quick ditty about how Willow is doing these days, and a couple of her thoughts on the new girl in town. Mild (very mild) spoilers for season 7 up to 'Potential' And, a quick rant: Why do I bother watching TV?! Farscape has been cancelled. Firefly has been cancelled. And although the fans (including me) are trying to perform a little emergency resuscitation, the outlook is grim. While it appears Firefly is dead in the water, I'm still holding out hope for Farscape. If you're a fan (and even if you're not), go to this site: Save Farscape, and do your part! Thus, the rant is ended. Dacia December 17th, 2002 Well, here's a departure. New fanfic, a FIREFLY fic of all things. I've been feeling rather uninspired of late, but the crew of Serenity have helped put me to rights. It's called The Sketch (13KB). Nothing fancy, but I enjoyed writing it, and I hope reading it brings about a similar feeling. Dacia May 16th, 2002 New BtVS story, My Favourite Things. It's a fluffy W/T oneshot that blatantly ignores the distressing realities of the BtVS universe and retreats into a happy little place of denial. Enjoy, Dacia
